Doesn't SA have significantly more people than MIA?

MIA is a destination city, SA isn't. That is the difference here.

I like the Spurs and am rooting for them to win, but Miami was put together by the rules too. Miami just did it the easy way by spending a shitload of money.

Every team in the NBA is trying to find the easiest way to win a championship.

Not really, Miami/Ft Laud is the 16th television market in the country and is nearly twice the size of the SA tv market. Although the city of Miami isn't huge, the metro area has around 3.5 million more residents than metro SA.

They're the eighth biggest metro area.

I didn't say they did. Fans of small market NBA teams like New Orleans and Memphis can find comfort in the rules because of San Antonio.

I know SA is considered "small market" but really they're not that small. San Antonio is huge and almost all people in South TX are Spurs fans as well.

It's a bigger market than NOLA or Memphis

like when they sat David Robinson for a season and got the #1 pick?

Umm, David Robinson missed most of that season because of a injured back and broken foot.

Go, Spurs! You are American's team.

America's team in a Mexican city whose best players are foreigners, now I've heard it all.

SA is a huge city, but there's not many large, established cities around it. The next largest city in the metro is New Braunfels at 57k, so outside of SA, there's not a ton of people in that DMA. Conversely, Miami has roughly 15 cities in the area larger than New Braunfels - thus the larger market.

It's also not a shithole like those two cities.
