Pretty certain that is the case in the NFL. Even games that are on ESPN or NFL network must be televised on local broadcast networks in the cities of the two teams.

I can’t believe the clock lasted as long as it did. What an abomination

This is some cringe garbage bullshite. MLB must be purposely trying to drive everyone away before the strike.
ESPN didn’t want it, it had to go somewhere. Why not Netflix? I’m not seeing the big deal.

Agreed. That was stupid. This is pretty much the perfect format. Although they just had to throw the gimmick of continuing to get to swing if you hit one out on the last try.

This is a prime opportunity for MLB to capitalize on the WorldCup craze. US is out and it’s the dead of summer right before division and pennant races heat up. If you are MLB, you figure out how to make it appealing to ESPN/ABC or Fox. That way you have max commercials and casual fans tuning in. You are on the verge of a lock out you have to strike while the iron is hot. Now, casual fans won’t be tuning in.

Ending on a home run would be insanely stupid.

They’re not gonna take less money to be on ESPN and there’s no chance this would be on a network. Everybody has Netflix, nobody is gonna not watch because of that.
Y’all love bitching for bitchings sake.

Its fine being on Netflix.... with that said the announcers are so bad they are making it substantially less entertaining.

I agree, no one is gonna not watch because Netflix, I just think you increase your chances of random casual viewership if you are on ESPN/ABC.

This exclusive streaming of sporting events needs to end. Any sports league or association that receives tax funding for their facility/facilities should put their events on television. Streaming can be available too, but it also must be on TV. Local teams should be required to air on an a free, over the air channel.
Great idea and like someone else said, the NFL does this.
But this is Rob Manfred we're talking about. He couldn't lead a bachelor party to a strip club.

I don’t have it, and I’m not paying for 5 or 6 different streaming services. I have ESPN Unlimited and that’s it. I have other ways of watching it.

This broadcast is terrible.
I don’t give a shite about your 20 different camera views.
Just show every fricking hit with a normal camera view
