Yes it's a truly awful format favored by simple thinkers

(A lot of NFL fans to be blunt)

So you prefer a system where you can go undefeated in a system where "every game matters" but people's opinion and the "eye test" can determine who gets to play for a championship?

Never has a P5 team been left out of the playoffs for being undefeated.

The regular season means a lot more. That’s literally why college football is so popular.

Southern teams are too scared to play on the road they will make sure playoffs are at neutral sites(aka warm weather). This is why the Semi finals now are at Neutral sites

Yeah, that's kinda my point.

Why should you have no shot simply because you're ranked 8th?

NFL format is a terrible way to judge a champion

Teams with losing records in the playoffs. LMAO

For someone that claims to be perfect...

I was not advocating for the format, simply stating that 12 teams have the chance to win the Super Bowl, so why would someone have an issue with the 8th ranked team having the chance to win the NCAA championship?

I don’t think it would at all. You would get the P5 conference champs and three at large bids. That seems pretty fair to me

f after 13 games you're ranked 8th, you dont' deserve to be national champion

This is an absolute truth, but there will posts referring to the nfl system or something else totally irrelevant...basically wanting the playoffs to be expanded to where their team is ranked. You can argue ok uga osu ucf, but there is no doubt the top 2 are in the playoffs

Because the NFL is for views and money

College football, at the current state, is for finding the best team.

Money will probably win out in the end. Unfortunately

The NFL is a for profit business it’s marketed the playoffs brilliantly. There also is only a marginal difference between a lot of the teams.

I don’t know why every thing needs to be the same?

What do you think determines the “at large spots” in the NCAA basketball tournament? In pro sports with 30-32 teams playing basically the same schedule you can just take the teams with the best record, in college no matter how big you make the field you will have to select teams

I think since it's the "professional league" people just assume it's the superior method.

As a Saints fan. I'd much rather a 4 team playoff than a 16 team one, for example. Regular season is rarely rewarded accordingly.

The NFL system as you said is simply to maximize profits.

If anything, it makes more sense for the NFL to use the college format, and vice versa.

How does it make sense in "finding the best team" to take 129 teams, have them all play remarkably different schedules, then only pick 4 of them at the end of the season for a playoff?

The NFL has less teams and at least plays more common opponents so it would make more sense.

In college, you can have the top 10 teams barely play a handful of common opponents, yet we know definitively who the best 4 are?

If it was for money. They would have 8 or 16 teams.

Are you trolling?

Because literally every other sport does it that way. What makes FBS college football so special?

They're college players, not paid professionals. And football is a violent sport.

They don't need to play an extra game just to give the 5th-8th best teams a chance at a Final 4 they don't deserve.

It’s not the same, pro sports the money goes to the teams/owners directly, in college it goes to the institution and the Athletic department, so it’s not the money isn’t a factor but it would be radically different if it was like pro sports
