i figured i would start a thread on HS baseball since we're almost relevant this year...

but i was just wondering what HS baseball fields around the state have notoriously odd shapes or features within them?

anyone that's ever been to our place knows we're up there. Those on the recruiting board might like to know Tre Turner hit an absolute BOMB Monday night to center... it might have been a HR in Zephyr Field.

what's also funny is when I see us play road games, most other teams' parks are depressingly normal. I've seen us play in Zephyr Field and at Mandeville and IMO full distance backstops like the pros break the high school game. I like our lack of one, but Mandeville probably has the perfect distance...

Fair Park in Shreveport

No dirt and chain link around the outfield that's a foot off the ground.

Not sure if still around but when I played (late 90's) Capitol High had no left field fence or center field fence but the right field fence was the ditch fence and was about 175ft.

Everyone just tried to go opposite field all game.

i fully expect to read that some small class 1A-B-C school doesn't even have a pitchers' mound. kind of like softball they draw a circle where it should be lol

Looking at Google Earth, the field is still there, but it doesn't look like baseball has been played there in many years.

When I was assistant coaching at Lee High, there were a few trees that were overhanging into CF. CF was deep though, I never remember them coming into play during a game. It would have had to be a bomb to get to the trees in the first place, and ridiculous arc to have them interfere with a ball that wouldn't have been out anyway.

I played Class C baseball. Needless to say there were some very interesting fields that we played on. I believe one had cattle guard fencing for the outfield wall. Didn't want to run into that stuff. Another had an outfield fence but no sideline fences

Parkway in Bossier had a dumbass 30 foot wall in left field thanks to Ronnie Coker.

Chalmette, saw the game on TV last night. The turf is nice and the field well lit. Outfield fences are a little weird due to being against the football stadium. Is the field where it was in the 70's? I played there and at St. Bernard High in Legion games back in the late 70's so don't really remember them well.
When I played for Hahnville, we went to the new school on Hwy 90 but played our games at the old school on River Road in Hahnville. We had no left field fence but there was an old building in left on the line that was probably 350 ft from the plate. A small ditch ran from left to center where the fencing for the football field started. The fence for the football field ran from center all the way to right, not sure of the dimensions but very few balls ever went over it. The new field at Hahnville has a real good natural playing surface and symetrical fencing but seating is pretty bad new field

Years ago, I coached against and at Cotton Valley. Worst I could ever imagine, and words cannot express. No side barriers, just an electric line over head that was explained to me foul was on one side, fair the other, complete dirt infield with a bump for a mound, an out field fence with more gaps, openings and holes than is reasonable. Horrible

Tara and the old Woodlawn field both had short left field fences. I see Tara put up a green monster since back in the 80's/90's.

The field at McKinley High in BR was horrible years ago….I have no idea how they were even allowed to play on it. Holes everywhere, the dirt had grass growing out of it. Very depressing.

Bunkie's is 300' down the line and 320' to center.

But never really had an abundant amount of homeruns in games.

Up until I was in high school Loyola didn't even have a field. I think they played some games on the biggest field at the Little League Park.

Now we have a pretty decent field:
