Winners get full FedEx Cup points and a two-year PGA card but are not granted automatic entry to the U.S. Open or PGA Championship
I think they do get into the PGA Championship

Correct. This is from the PGA Tour website
WITH A WIN: The Zurich Classic of New Orleans will continue to award FedExCup points and official money, and will count as an official victory for the members of the winning team. As such, both players will receive a two-year winner’s exemption and an eligibility into Invitational fields, including the Tournament of Champions and THE PLAYERS Championship. Additionally, the PGA of America will include both members of the winning team in the Tournament Winners category for the PGA Championship.

The contract with TPC is up in 2019 and the tournament will then move to City Park in 2020.
The guys on PGA Tour radio did not share your confidence on this matter when the topic was discussed Monday.

I heard what they were saying.
I'll say this, where it is now isn't the best the state has to offer. But, moving it to City Park wouldn't be an improvement. For one thing, looking out from the course to Marconi, towards the bayou, or at the dilapidated driving range is depressing. I know there's going to be more money pumped into the actual course. But what you see from the course isn't very attractive.
The issue of parking is going to come up. I know there's lots of parking in the vicinity, but not when you have to share it with everyone going to Jazz Fest. Also, if there's any rain at all, only people with 4 wheel drive are getting out of the grass next to Bayou St. John without a tow truck.
I'd also imagine the roads going into and leaving the course would be seriously congested with all the traffic going and coming from Jazz Fest. Even if they work out separate places to accommodate all the parking, the roads (Robert E. Lee/Marconi/Canal/Paris) are going to be packed.
They may have it one day, in the next 10 years or so, but it absolutely isn't going to be at Bayou in 2020. It's going to stay right where it is until the course is completed, parking is resolved, a driving range and state of the art practice facility are completed, and the date of the Zurich is changed.

I have a friend that played the new City Park course. He said that greens and fairways are perfect, but there is nothing memorable about the course.
Getting to the TPC is much easier for the fans than getting to City Park will be for certain.
I understand that it will be easier for the players to get to City Park, but as a fan, I hope it stays at TPC.
The TPC course has spent million of dollars to make it easy to host a TV tournament. There is a city of TV trailers and tents hidden in the trees between holes 10 and 16.

There is NO chance the tour moves the tourney to the new City Park course. It's a big step down from TPC or English Turn.

I've played it twice now, it's in great shape fairway and green wise, holds it's own against any course public/private around in that aspect, but it isn't a place that is gonna host a tour event anytime soon. As long as TPC exist the tour isn't gonna leave a venue at a course it brands and operates.
Was the format a success? Yes, it will grow rapidly.

The new format was great. But if you guys think the New CiTy Park course can host a PGA EVENT YOU ARE ON CRACK. TPC is WAY nicer and harder than Bayou Oaks. I played Bayou Oaks and it is WAY to easy for the pros. Don't get me wrong, I love Bayou Oaks and will play it a second time tomorrow..
