Was the new team format a success at the Zurich?

Haven't heard much. Curious if it was more fun than normal for the fans. Also curious if the pros liked the format?

Best field the tournament has had. Record crowds. All the pros talking about how much fun they had.

I'd say yes.

I didn't particularly like the alternate shot, but best ball was fun to watch.

Successful without a doubt, but was it a success because it was such a change of pace? Or was it a success because people really can focus in on team play? No idea, but the Zurich will go down as a top 10 tournament this year in terms of exposure and thats with the terrible rain.

I liked it.

The ONLY thing that I think you could say "sucked" was that the three best teams, in my opinion, all missed the cut.

Day/Fowler
Stenson/Rose
Berger/Pieters

But obviously, the tournament can't control who plays well.

How did they determine the teams?

The guys pretty much paired themselves up.

As for the success/failure: I think the players loved it. Basically an easy weekend for them (alternate shot on 2 days) in New Orleans with a bunch of money on the line. Not as much of a grind as a typical PGA event. They seemed to be having a lot of fun out there.

For the fans: Great turnout. I would just recommend to those who really enjoy seeing guys hit shots (not the free ticket suite types who just want to party), go on the best ball day. Alternate shot days fly by and you don't get to see as many guys hitting shots.

I enjoyed it. It would have been nice if the playoff alternated between best ball & alternate shot.

which is exactly what the PGA event in NOLA should be in my opinion.

My buddy who is the social media director for the PGA of America said a bunch of guys absolutely had a blast

Format was a success, for the players and spectators. It could be a must play for all the top players if they move it away from the TPC

Hopefully the city park course.
TPC is just so bland. The last two par 3's on each nine are the exact same hole. Random trees in fairways that have no effect on strategy.

I planned to attend the tournament Friday afternoon and Saturday. Work issues kept me from that.

Was able to watch a ton of the tournament on PGA Tour Live and CBS - I LOVED the format as a TV viewing fan. It was a great change of pace and very entertaining. I will make it to the tournament next year.

It seemed like a perfect fit for New Orleans - the players seemed more laid back and relaxed....but showed some passion and emotion.

The tournament was a ton of fun on Saturday. 18 got pretty rowdy as the final groups came in. A good friend of mine plays on the tour and said everyone playing was enjoying themselves.
