It can't be too reliable since it was hand-timed. I remember reading an article after the Olympics, where a mathematician was trying to estimate the fastest 40 time ever. He seemed to think that Donovan Bailey (Gold Medalist in Atlanta) would be the best, and his 40 would probably be around 4.05-4.10. I can't imagine that Dix could be .3 seconds faster.

I don't have a link, unfortunately.

I just hand timed it myself and it pretty much is within the margin og error of a 3.9 - 4.1

i counted that in my head and it was over 4 seconds

and there's no way to guarantee that was 40 yards

I think they mentioned Usain Bolt running about a 3.8? or am I just nuts and do not know what I'm talking about?

i think that was either a joke or estimated

to be honest, a guy like trindon will be the one to test what you can do in the 40 yard dash

the 40 tests acceleration as much as top speed. comparing the 40 to track isn't completely different, but it's 2 different running styles

Correct, in the 100 you wanna delay hitting your top speed till 60-70 yards out.

and that's why trindon's development is limited, b/c he's at top speed at like 30 yards out

I'm pretty sure that was from 30-70 yards into his 100 though, not the first 40.

Considering he's fairly slow(relative to other top-flight sprinters) coming off the block, I'd say that's false.

If anybody has a stopwatch, time him. I did it 3 times and got 4.4,4.3, and 4.3. It likely is 40 yards, but it's nowhere close to a 3.75.

look at the clock on youtube, it was at least 4 seconds....but yes, this time/run has no merit anyway. Is the distance even correct? Did the guy start and stop the clock anywhere near the right time?
