Broncos linebacker Von Miller gifted every player in the AFC West — including practice-squad players and those on injured reserve — with a bottle of custom wine and a Thank You note. That’s nearly 290 bottles.

His team fined him for farting too much in team meetings. He is the greatest man who ever lived.

He also missed a week of practice before a playoff game for eating bad fried cheese form a movie theater

How can he do this while being locked in a room in Denmark?

Dumbass, he knew he'd get publicity for this wine for this.... This is actually a great financial move... It's massive free marketing. He probably has a stake in this companies product. It's a local Denver company.
I'm guessing basically no one had ever heard of this wine before... Now millions will know... Coincidentally just before the Christmas holidays too.... Miller is a smart dude. Always like his demeanor and "oddities"

Lets assume the bottles were $1,000(i doubt they were even that much)
That is $290,000
Miller is making 19 million dollars this year
Those bottles cost him 1.5% of his salary.
If you make $85,000 in a year, that is the equivalent of you spending $1,275 on wine.
I think he will be ok

Now way he sent out $1000 to everyone. My guess is $100 tops.

If it was a business move, then alright.

Miller will be fine, no doubt.
But I've always felt this was a poor way of looking at things. Everything costs the same no matter what you make. So even though $290,000 for Miller is the equivalent of $1,275 to a normal person - the opportunity costs are very different.
290k is a nice house or super high end car vs $1,275 being a TV or couch.
But as someone else mentioned, he probably has a vested interest in the wine company.

A couple of quick searches and I found they max out around $250 per bottle from that vineyard. Maybe there's something higher but I couldn't find it and quit looking. They start around $100 per bottle as best I can tell. So 290 * 250 = 72,500

I doubt they cost him anything.
As someone said, free marketing for the winery.
Wineries give out tons of free bottles to promote.
290 bottles isn't a whole lot to get this kind of publicity.
