I just wrote about this and it made me think. Has another school had a better last sports year than Virginia? I know their football team didn't make a bowl game, but basketball team went to Sweet Sixteen and is #2. Baseball team went to national championship and is #1 this year. I know a lot of people disagree, but just my thoughts.

Florida in 06-07

You really can't beat winning the BCS and Tourney in the same year

Dude, your own team had a just as good if not better year than Virginia.

ETA: If we're just talking about those 3 sports.

I know Virginia soccer/lacrosse is solid/very good, and I think their Men's tennis is excellent.

If they ever got a Football team they would be a powerhouse athletic program

Just talking about this past calendar year. Obviously other schools in other years were better

Virginia is pretty much somewhere between good and excellent in everything except football after figuring out men's basketball the past few years.

Their combination of academic prestige, location, and state school social life is pretty hard to beat as a recruiting pitch in non-revenue sports.

Football will always be tough for them, but they still should be better than they are currently. They were solid in the 90s.

Our fan base would rather have an upstanding citizen in a coach than a winning one. Football will never get there with mike London and our AD at the helm.

Yes, we have an excellent athletic department. A lot of success in all sports with the exception of football.

That's refreshing when you see what happens at highly regarded public institutions like UNC.

Honest question: Would you trade that for an exceptional football program (at least 10 wins every season) and mediocrity in all other sports?

If that had happened at UVA, they wouldn't need the NCAA to nuke their athletic department. Most of their alumni would have zero problem sending their own programs back to the Stone Age if their academic integrity was called into question, to their credit.

Louisville had a pretty incredible year a few years ago. Sugar Bowl win, natty in MBB, did really well in WBB and CWS in baseball.

Yeah, I think Baylor had a pretty good 1-2 year run as well.

Basketball eliminates TCU from discussion.

They have on their facebook page the current rankings....( sports in national top 10)
#2- Acrobatics
#3- Equestrian
#4- Women's Tennis
#5- Men's Tennis
#6- Women's Basketball
#7- Football
#7- Men's Golf
#9- Softball
#9- Women's Track

Men's hoops is #14in AP 16 Coaches poll, Baseball fell out of top 25 last week.

I know most of those are sports nobody gives a shite about but still pretty good for a Private Religious run University.

Yes I would trade it all for consistent 10 win seasons. In a heartbeat
