I assume it's because the MIN guy was past Gurley. Just because the hands hit the back doesn't mean it's a block in the back penalty, otherwise you could just turn around and get it called no matter where you are. That'd be my guess on why they picked it up, defender ran to the sideline and Gurley was cutting in, so the block came from Gurley's side, not the back of the play.
