That video makes me think TS never even saw that dude until milliseconds before impact.
You're aware that tony put the guy in the wall right? Tony knew where the guy's car was. They were under caution for a wreck that he was a part of.
This isn't like driving down a highway at night and a deer darts out in front of you.

His dad said "Tony was the only driver that didn't see Kevin".
2 things in play with that:
1. Ward was on the track but actually came further down the track as Stewart approached, so there was only ever 2 cars in real danger of hitting him IMO. The 45 car did miss him, but Stewart was also behind that car, so he would have had less time than the 45 car to see him theoretically if the 45 car blocked Stewart's view of the kid.
2. I don't remember #2.

Also, maybe I missed part of a conversation so I apologize if so, the part you quoted states Tony never saw the dude. The stuff you said talks about knowing Tony knowing where the guy's crashed car is, but what does that have to do with whether Stewart knew the dude was waiting for him in the middle of the track?

I also see that dude was in a black suit standing in front of a black car on a portion of the track that doesn't look well lit. Was he supposed to expect that someone would be out on the track running into oncoming traffic?

Honest answer. The odds of tony not knowing what the caution was for is slim to none. You wreck a guy, look in the rearview, and his car is parked facing the wrong direction.

Yes the safety crews. You know the guys that were checking on Ward literally two seconds after Stewart hit him? Those guys came from in front of Stewart's car.

What did Stewart do so differently that no other car did, though? Like I said, Ward moved more down the track after a few had passed, and the 45 saw him in time, but Stewart likely had an obstructed view being somewhat behind the 45 car.

This is has been discussed before.
1. There is no way for Stewart to know that Ward wrecked bringing out the caution. Your odds are way off.
2. No rear view mirror.
3. Just because there is a caution does not mean that someone will be charging at your car.

Believe it or not, somehow I don't think that has been discussed yet

No my odds are pretty good. TS has been racing all of his life. He put the guy in the wall. He knew what was going on.
Someone charging at your car under caution, no. Human beings walking on a race track under a caution, absolutely.

A slowed down version of the video shows Kevin Ward grabbing Tony's wing and not sucked in.
Go past the first 12 seconds. the video starts with a countdown

You made up your mind when you heard it was Tony Stewart.
Ward was not just walking on the track under caution.

That slow-mo video is liberating for TS...

I'll admit that I have a predisposition when it comes to Stewart.
That said, I got it from watching him race since he's been in cup. I get my opinion of him directly from his actions.
If it had been a lot of other cup drivers I would have thought it was accidental even though the video doesn't suggest that it was purely accidental.
