Pat Summerall could come back from the dead and people would still bitch.

I liked Verne. He was the voice of the SEC’s rise to prominence… The grunting and moaning towards the end was getting bad though. He was about 2 years too late getting out of the booth on Saturday’s.

To be fair, even at his worst, did a lot to balance out Gary Danielson. Rewatched 2007 LSU Vs Florida the other day and Gary said Richard Derkson nine times instead of Richard Dickson.

Always amazed me that Gary could call the exact play and touchdown based on a formation but idiot couldn’t get a name right to save his life.

It also didn’t help that they both, especially Gary, were gigantic Bama dick riders

It's always hilarious to read stupid comments like this. Finebaum used to take calls from Bama fans complaining about CBS games because they were convinced Verne and Gary were rooting against them.

Verne and Gary called a lot of Alabama games over the years when Alabama was really fricking good. Were they not supposed to say so?

They were more than complimentary of LSU, too. Hell, Gary got choked up talking about how great Burrow and Edwards-Helaire played against Bama in 2019. But cue the Rantards who think he only got emotional because Bama lost.

You’re being ultra contrarian trying to clown on me. Go watch the 2011 game. Gary almost shite his pants and cried when they ruled Eric Reid intercepted the ball rather than Bama catching it.

Someone always cries about the Reid pick. I've seen the play countless times, and Gary literally says Reid ends up with the ball after watching the replay. You heard what you wanted to hear.
