Such was the case in Utah, where a 21-year-old Utah student allegedly threatened to blow up a nuclear reactor if Utah lost to San Diego State last Saturday, per KSL.com.
According to police, the student did in fact have knowledge of a reactor and goes to class where the reactor is held.
The student was reportedly booked to Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday on the official charge of a terrorism threat. The threat was made via Yik Yak, a social media app that is regionalized where people can post anonymously.
According to KSL.com, an Indiana student made a bomb threat on Yik Yak just weeks earlier. The moral of the story: There is no such thing as an anonymous social media app, especially when making terrorism threats, tongue-in-cheek or not.
No. 13 Utah would go on to win decisively 35-7 over SDSU. According to Bleacher Report, the school hasn't released a statement on the alleged threat. Utah will travel to Arizona State on Saturday as it looks to go to 3-1 on the season.
