SC's a 4.5 point favorite FWIW

I like both teams. Both have players who I follow pretty closely (McKnight, Shareece Wright, Allen Bradford...for Ohio St., Road Warrior Jr., Homan, Ray Small)

That's Texas Tech.

Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree are awesome, but Texas Tech is no Ohio St. Ohio St. looks as good as any team on paper this fall. The starters are spectacular or solid across the board and the backups are familiar names with a lot of promise.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if UVA actually gives USC a very close game. USC has got to be looking ahead and it seems like most are assuming the win. If the players even have an inkling of the same thoughts, it will be close.

Hell, UVA may be able to pull the upset if a few bounces go their way.

Hopefully Sanchez and McKnight are back, but losing them isn't nearly as costly as losing some o-linemen or recievers would be. I think everyone is just hoping that the O-line stays in one piece or SC could be in bigtime trouble.

I hope Allen Bradford isn't the forgotten man. Seems like he would be ideally suited to complement Havili at FB.

Havili's high school (Cottonwood HS in Utah) was set to open the season vs. John Curtis the year that Katrina struck. You may already know that but just some lagniappe.

If this were a home game and later in the season, I might agree with you.

But going on the road and USC has a history of making teams look real bad early in the season, you better take any advantage you can get.

I suppose it would disappoint me more if they beat me down without their starting QB and best offensive weapon.

Like getting blown out in a championship game (ala Florida) because the time between games was just too long.

Yeah we all hate excuses and some fan bases are not hypocritical about it either.

Go look for some excuses that I've made...good luck finding them.

I'm not concerned with USC at this point. The week before the game I will be, but right now I'm just really excited for it. That green USC offense is going to have to have a monster game to win, and I don't see it happening.

Illinois' green offense managed to move on you pretty good.... we pulled off a 31-0 run scoring on 5 consectutive possessions against the exact same defense (for all intents and purposes) that USC is going to face. The key is having enough athletes on the field to spread your D out and exploit... USC has those athletes.

And dont forget the other side of the ball. We demonstrated how pedestrian your pass game is, and in the running game your true beast Beanie will be facing, by far, the biggest/fastest/strongest linebacking corp he has faced yet.

The bottom line is you have not beat a team of this caliber over the past few years. They absolutely destroyed a team that beat you at home.

Further, excluding the Vince Young show, when has USC last lost a 'big game'. They lose plenty of the WTF games where they are big double digit favorites, but in genuine big games... they are money (and this is not a happy thing for me to say!)

If they still had Sewell at QB and Long on the line, I would be more with you.

What a dream it would be for VA to pull the upset and then USC to take down OSU.... couldnt write it out any better.

They finished second in the nation. That's not too mediocre.

And were outclassed in the BCS NCG at almost every position playing against a team with 2 losses.

They returned their right tackle. The guy that Tyson Jackson made look like a high schooler, and had to hold on every play to keep the QB from getting killed.

Give me Beanie Wells and Laurinaitis. That's the only two players that impressed me.

As much as I hate USC, I have to admit they are head and shoulders over OSU in talent.

Most of you aren't giving OSU enough credit.

They have a talented team.

I actually think that USC is somewhat overrated this year, given their inexperience at quarterback. They are unequivocally a top ten team, but I don't think they are going to win the national championship.

I think OSU may beat USC.

LSU won a NC with a relatively inexperienced QB. 1 career start going into the season.

I would not take single games and extrapolate theories out of them.

By your rationale, USC should have been annihilated by Arizona State since the Sun Devils whipped Stanford 41-3. USC won, however, by 20.

I think having an experienced team at the beginning of the season is a tremendous advantage. Think about LSU. Inexperience nearly cost us a loss in 2004 to a pedestrian Oregon State team. But an experience squad absolutely ripped Virginia Tech a new one in 2007. Ohio State is experienced on both sides of the ball. That defense could force a young Trojan team into costly errors. Plus, I do not believe that Ohio State will come into the Coliseum with the look of fear in their eyes that Illinois had in the Rose Bowl.

I think this will be a close game and I could see the Buckeyes pulling off the upset.

This is not good news.
Some in the Nat'l press were already arguing for tOSU v USC rematch in the Nat'l Championship, as if these two were the only two credible contenders (why? Because ESPN folks said so!). If these two don't play and USC loses, look for that argument to catch fire.
Have we forgotten that only two years ago, Florida was a slight choic e for the Nat'l Championship game w/ tOSU b/c the Big 10 homers wanted a rematch with Michigan! Same reasons , same prejudices, same journalists...

I appreciate your tenacity, Bayou Blitz, but methinks you are chomping at the bit in your haste for this weekend to arrive.

There's an interesting story on ESPN in which Pete Carroll is trying to bullshite the media into believing that Aaron Corp might start in front of Mustain. I don't believe that for a minute and if Mustain gets off to a great start, Sanchez may end up the No. 2 when he's healthy.

It's not BS at all. Corp is right there. Remember he was also a 5 star QB coming out of HS. and led is team to a state championship. He also brings more athleticism to the position than Mustain. Word is that Sanchez will start running tomorrow.

In the end I think Sanchez will be ready to go against Virginia.
