In most cases, "the ground" implies being down. But that isn't the case in this instance.
Like I said, this seems like a gray area. If somebody knows the nuances of the ground causing the fumble rule, by all means post it and teach me something because I would like to know.

USC is killing itself. We're playing like shite, but have fumbled twice in the redzone and had that terrible clock management at the end of the half. Just retarded mistakes

The no call safety on LSU. JJ definitely threw the ball away still inside the box with NO ONE anywhere near the ball
