Does USC get a big bump in rankings this week? Should they get in over OSU if they win the PAC 12 CG?

The only people hyping USC for the playoffs are Bama fans that are terrified of OSU

USC Playoff Hopes

They need

Alabama wins
ND wins
Tennessee wins
Oklahoma wins
Reece Davises win
Louisiana wins
Tulsa wins

And that still may not be enough.

In other words....

Bama if you are afraid of Ohio St in the 4 spot just say your afraid.

Ohio St is much better than USC

Now would USC have an argument if Clemson loses and A&M is sitting their with one loss, possibly. I think USC with Slovis is better than A&M with Mond.

Neither should get in. They will have played only six games max. Other teams will have played a minimum eight games, some 10-11 games.

Not true. Clemson & Notre Dame fans are right there with the Gumps.

No one knows how good they are.

They have only played 5 games.

Same with USC.

Both based off of preconceived views.

They will jump USC from like 15 to 8 this week, just so they can set up their jump over Texas A&M next week if Ohio State happens to lose.

OSU is better. USC is a very flawed team that's winning due to overwhelming talent over their mediocre opponents. They're not a good team.

What would be their argument?

OSU would have 2 quality wins, and USC would have 1 quality win. And I’m being generous with USC’s 1.

No offense, but I think this is a silly question ... Ohio State is a better team, and has faced a tougher schedule, and performed better against their schedule, than USC.

Can say the same about teams who have played 10-11 games since it's all in conference.

Do we know if ND is good? They beat Clemson and UNC, but how do we know that Clemson and UNC are any good?

Is Bama good? They beat A&M but we don't know if A&M is good. Oh and UGA with no QB

This is such a circular argument made year after year

A&M's schedule - 2 wins over teams .500 or better at year end with Tennessee

Bama - 10-1
Auburn - 6-4
LSU - 4-5
Arky - 3-7
MSU - 2-7

UF - 8-2
Vandy 0-9
South Carolina 2-8

And I'm not saying these teams arent good, but it's just so circular

Maybe not, but those teams who played that many games have had to fight through week to week injuries and players out due to COVID tracing. Team who only played half those games...not so much.

Ohio State played their last game with 23 players and the head coach out.

Michigan chose to cancel on Saturday with 9 people across the entire athletic department out.

Let's not lump all of the B1G together on this.

OSU had 19 scholarship players and 3 coaches out against Michigan State because of the B1G rules. I don't think another playoff contender has played any games with that # of guys out.

Covid tracing is the reason OSU had all these games cancelled. So that in fact screwed them more.

Louisiana wins

If the Cajuns win, they will be a one-loss team with wins over (using current CFP Rankings) currently #13 Coastal and #7 Iowa State, and their only loss by a FG over that same Coastal team. They will have also played 11 games.

USC would be undefeated, only having played six games and beaten no teams ranked (as of today) in the CFP Top 25.

So even with Louisiana beating Coastal, I don't see how USC would deserve a playoff spot.
