"The committee seriously contemplated imposing a television-ban penalty in this case. However, after careful consideration, it ultimately decided that the penalties below adequately respond to the nature of violations and the level of institutional responsibility."

Repeat Violators

"A member of the Pacific-10 Conference, the institution has an enrollment of approximately 35,000 students. The institution sponsors 10 men's and 11 women's intercollegiate sports. This was the institution's sixth major infractions case. Most recently, the institution appeared before the committee in June 2001 for a case involving the football and the women's swimming programs. Accordingly, USC is considered a "repeat violator" under NCAA bylaw 19.5.2.3. The institution also had infractions cases in 1986, 1982, l959, and 1957, all of which involved it's football program."

LSU needs to make a play on Matt Barkley. He can transfer without sitting out. If I am Les Miles, I am on the first thing smoking to LA (which, in hindsight would probably be an NCAA violation...nevermind). Maybe release a presser that says LSU would like to find a blonde, high school all american QB that currently lives in LA to start this fall.

The skinny:
USC will have the 85 scholarship limit reduced to 75 for 2011, 2012, and 2013. In the 2011, 2012, and 2013 signing classes the maximum Initial Grants are reduced from 25 to 15. In 2010 they will be allowed to have 85 scholarship and bring in the kids they signed this past February.

No Bowl game following 2010 and 2011 season.

Vacation of 1 win in 2004 (The Oklahoma Game) and all wins in 2005

Has to repay about 250K to the NCAA

They put in an "Alabama Provision" so USC can't schedule an extra game to make up for the Bowl Game like Alabama did against Hawaii

Basketball losses 1 scholarship for next season and has increased recruiting rules in addition to the sanctions they served last year that were self imposed.

Tim Floyd was personally cleared of about everything he was accused of

I am really stunned that the NCAA went this far. I just figured they'd lose a few scholarships over the next two years.
