I don't really have issue with Bob's substitution patterns today, given the way the game shook out.
Bornstein was hella out classed, but what are your other options? Pearce? Beasley? I liked how Harkes said he had a pretty good game. You know, other than the waved off own goal...
We needed something more in the center of the park. But again... Adu can't or won't play defense. Klejstan could have come a little sooner, I guess. I don't know what the deal is with Torres, but Bob doesn't see what the internet world sees, but frankly, I don't either. What are the other options?
If anything, I think the changes worked, because we became more dangerous the last 10 or 15.
The goals came because there was a big assed hole in the center of the field.
If only we could pinpoint what happened the extra midfielder, right?

I can't believe we let Harry Potter's queer twin brother score 2 goals on us. I am so pissed off right now. The 1st goal was because our defense kept dropping off on a goal going at our goal (Demerit), the second goal is on Onyewu... wtf? If he just poked out his left foot, that shot is blocked. The third goal is just a result of trying to get a goal.
I thought at halftime, we should have pulled Jozy and put on another center mid and play with 5 men in the middle to try to stop their attack (Pirlo)
frick

I'm not too surprised by the outcome. A lot of what if's (Clark, Bocanegra) but in the end Italy capitalized on our their chances/mistakes. I really like how Bradley came out physical and pushed people around. I am wondering about Jermaine Jones and his possible role on the pitch. Any info?

He should be (which means he probably won't be) our defensive mid. Big, fast, strong.

What ever happenened to Bobby Convey?

I didn't get to watch the game. I just got home from work.
It seems like we played like shite on both ends. Ya'll are blaming the defense for giving up goals rather than talking about how Italy earned them.
Some of ya'll are also blaming the offense for not shooting.
Sounds like we generally sucked today. This does not bode well. I fear we are headed for a 3-game appearance in SA.

No, we didn't play poorly. 2 of Italy's goals came from like 30 out. The first was because we kept dropping back when Rossi was dribbling at the goal (plus a great strike by that fricking ****) and the 2nd goal could have easily been blocked by Onyewu.

So far as Rossi goes....so long as Italy is a winner and we are not, we will lose players like him. It sucks, but the only way to end this is to win.

So it was a case of getting behind from two errors, which was really the same error twice? And the American did this to us?
Damn that sucks.

Well, their second goal, Onyewu was standing right above the 6 yd box blocking Howard's view. The ball goes right infront of his path but instead of sticking his left foot out deflect the ball, he tries to kick it across his body with his right foot.
We actually scored first in the first half.

Cool. Thanks for the description. Sounds like we let one get away from us, really.
I read above the third goal came from us pushing up to tie the game?

Thats exactly what he did. He could have deflected it but tried to cross his legs. You can't make stupid mistakes, esp when you're playing 10 against one.
Brazil will not be any easier and Egypt loooked good against brazil.
We had our chance this time but couldn't close the deal. The kid Rossi has a big leg and you know he loved beating us. Hell we would loved beating him.
Howard played well

Yeah, the 3rd goal was bound to happen. We had everyone up trying to score, they got us in transition.

Like pulling the goalie in hockey When you're down 2 -1 we needed to press forward. We actually had some good shots in the 2th half. With italy thwy always dominate the midfiled. Donovan played a good seconf half bu he needs to work more with Jozy. They marked Jozy well (Hell they mugged him a lot) but thats International soccer

Thanks I don't know why I thought of him during the game.

Rossi was the difference maker for the Italian team today. He changed the pace of their attack just like Feilhaber did for the US in the last WC qualifier.
None of this changes the fact that he is a little bitch. It was funny to see Rossi and Camoranesi celebrating at the end of the game. Can't get any more Italian than Bergen County and Buenos Aires.
