Not good for a sprint but right about where you want to be in a gangbang.

PV: Sam Kendricks, Chris Nilsen, Jacob Wooten
JT: Curtis Thompson, Capers Williamson, Donavon Banks (none have the standard)
3k Steeple: Kenneth Rooks, Matthew Wilkinson, James Corrigan (none have the standard so Rotich and Bor may be on deck since they have it)

100: Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry

Some of these may be off with standards and such but trying my best.

NBC was trying to build sympathy for Kerley where it just doesn't belong. The guy got caught in another company's shoes in a semi-open area by his sponsor. It reminds me of the Marcus Jordan/ UCF/Nike-Adidas controversy. At least Marcus had a legit reason to wear Air Jordans...his dad's shoe. Adidas warned UCF multiple times and then dropped the school immediately after Marcus was the only one in Jordans during UCF's exhibition game. Kerley had no such tie to Puma and should've known better.

Yea those company’s don’t mess around with that stuff. When I was at ULM we were warned multiple times not to have anyone else but adidas on at meets. They didn’t care at practice but meets were a big no no. And that was with someone adidas wasn’t making much money on.

Our T&F Olympic teams have shite the bed way too many times to start counting medals now. Barring stupidity, the sprints will be fun to watch!

I’ll be surprised if anyone beats Lyles as long as he doesn’t beat himself. Dudes on fire rn.

Jamaica gonna walk away with it. Our guys aren't going to practice exchanges for shite.

I don’t know man Kenny and Lyles are hyper competitive. I wouldn’t be surprised if they forced the issue.

I’m watching earlier’s broadcast and the poor camera guy that had to chase after Noah Lyle after the 100m.

quote:That's the problem with having our 5-9 guys on the relay in early rounds. They have nothing to work on besides exchanges. Jamaica has to go all in. IIRC Jamaica's only relay change was their 5 take Bolt's place in the prelims.

I'll throw this out there too. As a country we are conditioned in the first week to accept the same setup for swimming. The whole first week we see the US Team do it. We forget how there's no contact between swimmers and unless you're blind you can't screw up the "hand off".
(If we're here I'm sure most of us know this already but for the lurkers...) T&F relays are more like a mid-air refueling & carrier landings where you're screwed if you don't get the timing right. It'll help that some of these guys are training partners year round but it's not the same as being handed the baton in an Olympic final and told to pass it off 3 times. They ran the 100m this weekend and they really ought to run an exhibition 4x100 relay at the end of the 2nd weekend to give these guys some relay experience (in front of a crowd.)
quote:What was even funnier was that they didn't go live to that shot. It's almost as if the production truck felt bad and showed the shot on replay.

What time does the broadcast start? Also why are the best final races at 11 pm est ffs
Posted on 6/24/24 at 12:39 pm to Ingeniero
The US is extremely strong in the 1500. You're going to have someone really good not make the team. Nuguse, Hocker, and Kessler is probably the strongest team based on consistent performance, but anything can happen in a race that is likely to be extremely slow.

Should be on NBC/Peacock from 7-10pm CDT

Hall is headed into the 6th event/javelin just 9 points back. (Top 3 are within 150 points.)

I get its a great stadium and everything but I really wish this meet (US champs) and NCAAs moved around more. The timing of events kinda sucks and Eugene is rough to get to for the average fan. Making this meet and NCAA's more accessible to the rest of the country would go a long way to continuing to grow the sport. Having our best athletes showcased in the same extreme corner of the country at times that make watching difficult for alot of the population isnt a good thing. I know Phil is probably paying a butt ton to the USATF/NCAA to keep it there so itll likely never happen but still. I also wish flotrack would frick off but thats another battle for another day.

The big issue with Eugene is hotel space and flight prices, even to Portland where you’ll need to then rent a car.
We were planning to go to the trials with friends, but the all in cost was more than it cost us to go to the Oslo Diamond League. Easy choice.
