This country is so stupid sometimes.

Sorry, greatest tennis player of all time, you can't compete in this tournament where you'll be going from hotel room to court.

Hi there, Mr. Anti-American guy. Let's see, social media full of anti-American rhetoric. Check. Donated to several anarchist orgs. Check. No job, no prospects. Check. No savings. Check. Enjoy your stay in America!

Sure but you can’t expect these people to just admit they were wrong.

I think the US Open probably wants him there, and he might be able to get in through Mexico I believe, but they can't go against the US government. That would not be a good strategy.

Agreed. I think they would love for him to be there, they just don't want to get into a pissing match with the federal government.

I'm independent, even swing left politicly. I hope it's a bloodbath come November. This is pure lunacy and why the world's economy is in the shithouse.
Well you voted for it. They are trying to give you what you wanted!!!

I mean yeah. That's why he's staying home instead of traveling to a foreign country and breaking their rules even though it's costing him money.

If I were Novak I would be a lot more concerned about my legacy than money. I’m sure he has more money than his grandkids will ever spend but this will be the second grand slam he’s missed this year, he’s one behind Nadal, and he’s not getting any younger.

I mean his legacy has grown in my opinion. Not bowing down to this stupid Covid theater has made me respect the heck out of him and I used to loathe him

How ironic would it be if a Russian won the whole damn thing, especially considering Daniil Medvedev is the #1 ranked player in the world and has to be the consensus favorite.

Not as bad as a Russian winning the Women's Wimbledon title.

Medvedev is #1 but he's not a gimme to win. I think Tsitsipas, Zverev (if healthy), and Alcaraz would all be favorites or pick-em H2H.

Eta: okay, not Tsitsipas. But definitely the others. Honestly I'm hoping that Taylor Fritz can get a good draw and make a run. The US is past due for an American champ.

they will respect the government's position regarding travel into the country for non-Americans.

Wait. What?

Why doesn't he just stroll across the Southern border from Mexico. This government doesn't turn away anyone who hasn't been vaccinated

I wouldn’t sacrifice being the undisputed GOAT of my sport over a vaccine.
