Well he comes from the sTm mold, so you know he has more class than that. He was the coach at VC when I was a senior in high school. He's a very classy guy and good coach.

Schools like Arcadia,in towns less than 3,000 people, are at a distinct disadvantage but still find away to compete with the schools that literally recruit like a college.

Because they run programs. They cultivate kids from youth leagues all the way through high school. They don't go out and cherry pick players from other areas to put together all star teams. Loureville for example, they have always had good football teams. That town is small as frick. Yet their football program is about as consistently stong as I've seen in my lifetime.

That kid from Breaux Bridge that transfered (Alexander) and went through all that trouble is no bigger of a college prospect than when he was in BB. STM also lost their best Girls player mid year because she transfered to LCA.

Congratulations to being the 3rd or 4th best Class A program this year.

Good point. But I still don't understand how any team from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Lafeyette for that matter are allowed to play in 1a or 2a. Especially the academies. Having more people mean you have a bigger pool of players. Arcadia, for example, has had a total population in the history of the town of under 3000 people. No amount of development should allow teams like that to beat a team like LCA, who has the number 1 2017 player in the state and 3 other D1 players.

I grew up with Byron. He was a star at Grambling Lab. Pretty much beat Southern Lab by himself.

Yet it is an upset they will remember for the rest of their lives. Didn't you watch Hoosiers? Let the boys play.

I pull for the underdog. I think its great that a legitimate 1A team is playing for a state championship. LCA, Madison Prep, Riverside are masquerading around as small schools. But most of us know better.

What's up with the lca hate in this thread? What's the big deal, some good players decided to play together? So what?

I dont know any of these people personally, so I'm just looking at it from a different angle. What if a small school had some kids who decided they wanted to play there anyway to change the culture?

As an outsider it seems like jealousy but I don't know so I'm asking.

Bid Ed, the problem I have with LCA's of the world is the running up of scores on teams with inferior talent. When I played back in the day, we respected our opponents and didn't run up scores to humiliate them. Up 50 and still pressing. Really!

Well arcadia is no stranger to the top 28 in boys or girls bball. And just because LCA is in 1A now, doesn't mean they will stay there. They could move up because of enrollment, but they could also control it and stay in 1A.

not a single one of the big 3 players are from or even live in lafayette. The kid from BB never should have been allowed to play this year, he lived in the same attendance zone for both schools meaning he should have had to sit out. The twins, I hear they were from Baton Rouge. I don't know for sure though, just what I heard.

I think we are in agreement? My primary point was that public schools and private schools should play in different leagues because of these situations. Public schools like Arcadia can't go pickup a kid from Bossier city or Shreveport. And Arcadia has blood lines that most people don't know about which allows it ti overcome this disadvantage. I.E. Bernard King has family in Arcadia, his son Kourtney Roberson, is from arcadia and was an all American. He plays or played for Texas A&M,Robert Parish has family in Arcadia, Paul Millsap has family there, Marcus Fizer,McDonald's all American, is from Arcadia. Bill Russell is from right down the road in monroe. There is a reason why Arcadia girls had 4 starters over 6 ft tall, I just saying. I Don't want to tell to many small town secrets. Lol

Some good players from around the state decided to go to a 1A private school in Lafayette and beat other private schools by 85 points. Obviously that is going to ruffle some feathers, and rightfully so IMO.

LCA girls program must be taking notes from the boys. Have a couple of players now who didn't live in Lafayette, and have about 4 transfers lined up for next year. And the private schools wonder why the publics hate them.

Me and 5 friends went to a public "magnet" school decades ago to play baseball together. We had a pretty good run. Public schools have ways too.

I'm not talking about magnets, I meant real, non-magnet, non-lab public schools.
