Dw wasn't very popular as a driver but after 20 years on Fox, he grew on folks.
Boogiety, Boogiety, Boogiety!!!

You’re probably right, at least while Dale was alive. That said, Dale Earnhardt was much more important and had much more influence over the choices NASCAR made. I believe NASCAR would be a different product if he were still alive and expressing his opinions.

True, it was probably the most cheated up car in nascar history. They did a great job of disguising it but the other drivers knew. Back in the day if you wasn’t cheatin you wasn’t winnin. How many car engines “blew up” during last lap or cool down lap lol.

That would be the T Rex car from the 97 all star race.

Nope. That was Evernham exploting rules piece by piece but not breaking them. Hats off to him but thats when nascar decided to create way more rules going forward.

DW was the Dale Earnhardt of the late 70s/early 80s in that you either hated him or loved him.

Never heard of him

I like the Allison brothers

Not an unpopular opinion, a straight up stupid opinion. I grew up near Dawsonville and even here Dale has way more fans.

Bill Elliott had his own video game.
So did Kyle Petty. So did Al Unser.

As someone who hasn’t watched NASCAR since he was a child, I have no idea who Bill Elliott was. I know exactly who Dale Earnhardt was.

That said, I never really u derstood Bill's popularity.
The Bill Elliot fan club stuffed the box every year. It was well known enough they even mentioned it during a race.
Anyone that went to a race back then knew Elliott wasn't the most popular driver just by the gear fans wore.

All of this is true.
OP is incorrect.
