Rags are 6 points behind the lead in the Metro and 3 games back. They took out the current best team in the league last night 4-1.
Does this season not look nearly as bad as it started?

This season is really great.... Rags are getting better. Still a risk to make the playoffs but at this point a 50/50 shot. First televised game I've seen all season; NHL Network has always put on a different team than scheduled here in Nashville. A couple of observations:
- Why are Lee Stepniak and Kevin Hayes on the roster, and why did they send the Duke back?
- The expectation (wrongly assumed I suppose) was that there would be no dropoff by letting go of faceoff specialist Brian Boyle with JT Miller coming in, and that Dan Boyle is an upgrade from Anton Stralman.
- Seems like Nash has gotten it together. Just need Hags and ZUUUUUUUUUUKE to be on their A game every night too.
- Dominic Moore isn't particularly fast, doesn't have an accurate shot, is okay at passing, but ALWAYS seems to be at the right spot to make a play. It's aweomse to see a guy that seems so average skill wise have so much hockey sense to make an impact.
Also, Preds are in the central division lead. Good times here in music city .

Hayes, i.e. goof troop (look at his face and you'll laugh at that) has the size and potential, just needs to grow as a player and get faster.
I am not sure I understand the logic on Stepniak.
Here is the theory on Duke, the team has done great without him, so they finish the season without him and bring him next year on an entry level contract saving some cap space for the money hungry Staal.
It is awesome to see Nash in super star form, would def like to see Hags like he was last year putting up great numbers.
The talent we let go to Tampa is inexcusable.
I think we have a better than 50/50 shot FWIW.

Going to be a tough one. Neal and Nystrom are on IR. Dallas' hot streak has ended. Rinne knows what to do. Hopefully with Neal out that means that we end up on the PP more than the PK and some sparks fly.
AND Kings / Rangers. Can the Kings win 5 in a row against the Rangers?

Stars have been streaky all season. The hot streak is indeed over, so they should be back to stinking it up for the next week or so.
Get the rookies some ice time.

Preds re-take the lead. 2-1

Did the stars even get a SOG on the last pp?

5 combined PPs in Dal Vs Nash, 3 combined shots in those PPs.

Salomaki scoring in his first career game really made me fully torqued.
The job Victor Bartley has done this year when called upon is commendable. He played great tonight following the Ellis injury.

It blows my mind that we are in January and the Stars still haven't won a game in OT this season. They've won a couple in shootouts, have yet to score in 4 on 4. That's insanely sad.

With tonight's win, Nashville is now tied at 58 points with Anaheim for first place in the NHL with two games in hand.

Great season so far for the Preds. Wonder if Jason Spezza is re-thinking his whole "I want to play for a cup contender" thing
Rags win tonight too in LA. Tied for 3rd in division with Washington

It's one thing to lose in OT, but it's straight up embarrassing when it happens 17 seconds into OT.
They held the Preds in check the whole frickin' game, then when it really mattered, Kari couldn't make the stop.
