There is something new for cracka to study this year. They went to a Dunlop ball. McEnroe and Fowler are saying it fluffs up easily and Tomic and Millman trashed it last week.

I think we usually get a good read on court conditions by the end of a tournament, although outside courts sometimes play much differently than the show courts. But, ball conditions are difficult to track. I think Australia has played pretty fast the last couple of years, hence Fed lifting the trophy.

I’d like to see how it plays during the heatwave and the day following. I think that will tell us a lot

Duckworth playing S&V is nice to see though

quote:

They're saying Nadal chaged his serve

Saw this vs. Kyrgios. He added a flat serve, and he just hit one over 200 km. It only took him, what, 15 years as a pro?

Let’s switch to a random ball brand that isn’t used much, if at all, on the tour.

At least the results don’t look too crazy so far.

Degenerate gambling info below...

Qualifiers could have a small edge by having already played 3 matches with the Dunlops.

Bernard Tomic, the world number 83, said after beating Jack Sock at the Kooyong Classic on Tuesday: “I don’t know what the Australian Open has done, but it is terrible. I don’t know too much [about the balls], but I don't feel like it is that good of a ball.

“I think they’re pretty cheap from what I've heard.”

I thought RG went to Dunlops a few years ago.

Rafa went big on serve at either USO 2010 or 2013. I always wondered why he never did that again, but somebody mentioned last year it hurt his hands.

I can't see Murray even finishing against RBA.

It's funny watching two 7-footers play on the smaller courts.

Kind of happy I don't have to sit through 4 rounds of Isner BS over this next week.
