I know there was talk about starting a program a few years back, but then the students voted down an athletic fee to pay for it. The school needs a shot on the arm. They could play in same league as Nicholls and SLU. I doubt it will ever happen. UNO looks like tbey have made a commitment to basketball with their new coach and NIL fund ( obviously that is cheaper than football even FCS football )

No smaller commuter schools should be starting a football program at this point

Money pit that adds nothing

Small schools will be dropping football, not starting it.

Maybe some big schools as well.

They are in the same league as SLU, Nicholls, McNeese, & NSU

All they have to do is add it and it'll slot right into that conference

UNO had a club team years ago (they were LSUNO at that time) that played similar schools. My dad took me to Yenni in Metairie to watch them play once.

UNO has no money or fan base. It would be a total waste.

Playing Southland Conference football is a huge windfall of cash?

I played on a intramural team called the "UNO Icewagon's". We were white, slow and melted at the end.

That’s how you get to not be a smaller commuter school though

If they started football they’d go to the Sun Belt again

You might excite people for 5 mins but this would only end badly for that university

Maybe it will free up scholarships for men's soccer or lacrosse. Especially assuming the NCAA keeps the 6/8 rule.

Because of the dumbass title lX, if they add football, they will have to add 3 more women’s sports.

The stadium draw ups looked great (a football stadium on the lake would be killer) but in reality the team would have one decent year every 25 years and be a money pit.

If ULM can make it work… UNO doesn’t have money because we don’t fund them like we should… they were great when we did fund them back in the day

It’s a shame because Southeastern is what UNO could be in all sports

UNO needs to focus on being competitive in men’s basketball and baseball again.

Blake Dean isn’t doing great at UNO and appears to not be him, although it’s UNO. I did see a while back where the students voted against a fee that would have brought football to the school.

you mean the same league the rest of the sports teams at UNO play in? What a novel idea.
