Share it with the NOLA minor league soccer team in the spring/summer?

That's actually a great idea.

The idea that not having a football team is what is holding back UNO is hilarious. Men’s soccer with a new stadium used by the new soccer team being discussed would be better.

it’s SWAC bad

It would take UNO a couple weeks of games to equal a Southern crowd.

UNO marching forward with campaign to add football: 'It could be transformational for our students'

NEVER gonna happen.

Ever.

This has been going on for 50 years (literally), and will never happen.

I would LOVE to support UNO football, but it will never happen and frankly I’m tired of hearing about it every 5 years or so.

Can we just focus on education?
Not sure. Some university add football as a means to increase donations. Want to say that was the reason UT-San Antonio and Georgia State applied. Not sure it would work at UNO

Yes, they will march on. The WAC stuff has fallen apart with SH going to CUSA and now the other Texas schools are seeing the travel cost of being in a conference with teams in the pacific time zone instead of just Louisiana and Arkansas.

I have heard that the plans are not just for a football stadium but are for a major redevelopment on the property where the current lakefront arena is located. Like, a big time development where every sport will have new facilities. If it ever gets off the ground, UNO will be in a FBS conference in short order.

Will be the biggest money pit in Louisiana history.

Every state school should block it if they attempt this without paying for it ahead of time. Going to bomb out like 750 mil to average 12k a game

I want to know what happened to all the UNO fans from when Tim Floyd was selling out Lakefront Arena… surely there’s some still out there?

With the transfer portal and NIL in full effect I don’t see why UNO shouldn’t start a football program. I’m all for it

Right. UNO is hurting financially right now. Not sure where they would get the money.

No way in hell UNO could build something like that. Tulane couldn’t even build something that nice and they have way more booster support than UNO does.

another 150 students paying tuition, fees, etc helps (adding women's soccer, band, etc could bring in another 100 to 150 students on campus)

plus football would bring in more corporate sponsors

Plus the fee they’re tossing around.

I’m not saying this would never work but they would be facing an insane uphill battle to make it happen.
