I don't hate wrestling, I just hate wrestlers who don't evolve.

Clay was coming off three consecutive finishes before fighting Pettis.

I do agree with you though, wrestling is probably the absolute best base to have when entering MMA.

Especially now that the ring is all but dead in mma.

The point is the fight is boring as hell when the guy who gets the takedown does no work on top. I love the wrestlers who work like Chael Sonnen.

Guida is not really a LnP fighter, he just was tonight. My problem is with fighters getting top position and not even attempting to pass. MMA is a very difficult sport to score. So many aspects, so many different ways to look at a fight.

He was a LNP fighter tonight because of his physically weaker opponent. Don't blame the wrestler, blame the guy that can't wrestle for making the fight boring. Guida has NEVER been in a boring fight against another wrestler.

Easy to say in theory but hard to do against a guy with a good guard who does not want you to pass.

Correct. Sonnen is far more boring than Clay Guida

I agree 100%. I like Guida, just didn't like his performance tonight.

ground fighting s much harder to do than what you see. I have 12 years martial arts experiance, and i got my arse worked by a friend with half my karate experiece, 3 years BJJ, and fought amatuer ma for of those years. just a few weeks of jiu jitsu lessons, i can now recognize what most people call nothing, but is actually working their asses off

Correct. Takedown drills against a resisting opponent is the hardest thing to do in the gym. Long-time wrestlers make it look easy but it's not.

Guida never stopped working and moving tonight. The guy just had really good defense.

The fact is Guida dominated that kid tonight.

Even in a BJJ tournament under BJJ rules Pettis would have lost on the takedown points. Sub attempts don't count for anything.

A fight in the purest form is simply trying to impose your will over a guy who is well trained to shut you down, and impose his will on you

Guida simply did what he wanted to do in there and Pettis couldn't stop him.

MMA fans are fickle. Guida has been in 2 fights of the year and fight of the night 4 times.

Guida is a boring fighter. If pitter patter low level midget striking where you know nobody is ever going to get KOed mixed with wrestling where you know nobody is ever going to submit the other gets you off then good for you I guess. I'd rather Guida, Edgar, Maynard, Tyson Griffin etc all go jump off a cliff and die. The Florian and Sanchez fights were only exciting because the other guy was beating him down.
