Look things are bad, but that’s is an over the top statement.
COMBINED they have 3-4 conference championships in the last 90 plus seasons of mens football, basketball and baseball
I am a Monroe native, NLU grad, and they should just shutter all athletic programs. Try something else.

I mean, they’ve made a bowl game in the last 25 years.
They’ve made a baseball regional in the last 25 years.
I get that things are really bad, but to say that they haven’t had a competitive team in the last 25 years is wrong.

Almost winning your conference is a competitive team. You said it’s been 25 years since we’ve had a competitive team. You were wrong

Baseball won the Sunbelt regular season in 2008 and the Sunbelt tournament in 2012.
I mean, ULM sports have been pretty atrocious for the last 25 years, but his statement was not factually correct.

I stated I was not certain.
And 3 semi sucessful seasons out of 90 isn’t quite a smoking gun
Quit wasting money. It is a failed athletic program. Period.
Fans don’t support it. Students don’t give a shite. Every venue is in disrepair.

Always thought Louisiana had 1 too many D1 programs in the state
Not only too many FBS programs. Louisiana has too many 4 year colleges in general for a state of its size. Nobody wants to talk about it but at least 3 of them need shut down/merged with another

It is worth noting that this guy is a hack who is on a personal mission from the JMU administration to plant seeds in the media for their preferred narrative.
Some of the Sun Belt East thinks they are above the west and want to form their own conference.
Multiple people in North Louisiana media have said that while budget cuts are real, they are nowhere near this number and this is complete bs to try and get the Sun Belt to kick ULM out.
The Dukes are becoming a problem, especially when the vast majority of their athletic budget comes from student fees. Their fan support is 1/5th of their tuition plunder. They have zero legs to stand on talking about anyone's budget. Welcome to the Sun Belt. We have meetings every Tuesday.

OK. Let's start with the ones with the lowest graduation rates.
Oops. That conversation ended quickly.

Wasn’t it SUNO that they tried to shut down and liberals lost their mind?

I'm an NLU alum too. I never thought they should have moved away from 1AA, which is now FCS. The move was made because of all of the money it would bring. Well we didn't get it, or we spent it all on facilities, or something. What if they had stayed in the Southland Conference. Does anyone think the teams could have been as bad there as they've been since the jump up to FBS/D1?
I don't. They couldn't have as many players on the team, but if they were a winning program, I think they'd recruit some of the best recruits that are willing to play at the FCS level. Location is still a big part of recruiting. There are tons of kids from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, really all of the surrounding states. The leftovers from all of the FBS scools in that area could be better than a lot of areas of successful FCS teams.
Louisiana kids, especially the ones in North Louisiana, are somewhat underrated coming out of high school. An FCS school that's winning might have a better chance to keep underrated kids that do well. I know they'd have a better chance than keeping a kid playing for ULM as a FBS team. Tech, or ULL, might take that kid.
How much money can FCS teams make?
Does the Southland share any money?
How much money would a full Malone Stadium bring in?
These guys, and the Dakota schools seem to be doing OK, and their fans really look like they have fun...
The good FCS teams play on national TV regularly. The weekend that College GameDay went to one of the Dakota teams, I thought about the how much better off ULM might have been in the same situation. I know I would have been excited about that.
