UL football coach Billy Napier unveiled a new team rule in his normal mid-week August camp press conference Wednesday.
Starting with the beginning of this school year, all scholarship UL football players will be required to be a minimal level $50 member of the RCAF. The rule will be optional for walk-on members of the squad

How the hell is this allowed?

Billy Napier just signed a new contract worth $1,106,960 guaranteed per year, plus incentive bonuses

This is the dumbest thing a coach has done in a long time and will be overturned by Monday morning

Many other programs do the same. Every student at GaTech is required to donate every semester to the foundation. Texas A&M students are required to make a donation to graduate.

Just because it’s the Cajuns it is a big deal to some of you weak minded Tiger fans. We have an group of outside the box thinkers and innovative people in the athletic departments and coaching positions. We have little to no tradition to fall back on, so excuse us for having a coach who ask players to donate back to the program and take ownership.

Hey guys, I know a lot of you come from poverty and while we're not going to pay you we're going to need you to fork over $50 to help RCAF cover my salary this year.

Just a bit absurd.

When did that start? I've never donated shite to A&M (and I sure as shite won't start with the slap dicks running the show now) unless it was in my fee bill or something.

Unless it was some line item in a tuition bill or something that I didn’t notice it’s not true. They prominently set up a donation desk when you get your ring and degree but it’s definitely not required then.

I don't ever remember doing that when I was there. Howver, when I graduated, a $25 donation was made in my name to Roll Call.

Sounds like a great tradition. Dicking over kids that are likely already poor as shite.

Right up there with midnight yell at A&M, rolling toomers corner, and touchdown jesus

Oh my.....

Guys, the rhetoric in here is going around as if Napier is robbing these players or something. That's not the case.

The fact of the matter is that these players are on scholarship which means a significant portion of their food, room, and tuition are paid for. If anything, this is like doing chores when you were a kid. You washed dishes, you took out the trash, you folded laundry in order to show appreciation for living under a roof. This is similar.

Right now, we offer a nutrition program that a lot of G5 schools do not offer. Our weight room is in the top 10 in the country in size. Our players live in state-of-the-art renovated housing, and they have their own food room separate from the university cafe in the student union. And don't players get paid stipends now? Add to that.

All in all, $50 for the year is nothing when you're going to college for free.

Might I add that the players voted in favor of this.
