coached in Snyder back in the mid 90s.... Lubbock looks like Manhattan compared to Snyder lol
My nephew just signed to go play baseball for a juco out in Big Spring, close to Snyder.

Advocate has a first pass at potential candidates.
LINK
Habetz-Crowley Native, Former UL great and Assistant Coach
Rick Fremin-SELU HC 298-181 at SELU, and a Belle Chase native
James Landreneau-McNeese HC 278-161 record. Multiple recent post season berths. 5 40 win seasons.
Howard Dobson-LSU assistant/hitting coach. 93-128-2 record as head coach at Souther Miss. I'm sure many tiger fans would love this hire
Mark Montgomery- Former La Tech coach. Kentucky native recently resigned from Maryland HC gig for "personal reasons". 38-19 while at Maryland
Mike Roberts-Former UL pitching coach under Glasco, Served same role at Oregon, Washington, and Virginia. HC for one season in Buffalo (2018).
This has the feeling this will end up being a home town hero hire in my opinion. I think Landreneau is the better hire; question is he willing to make this move or wait for bigger gig to come along.

I mean…if it’s hometown hero like Habetz, then awesome. I doubt we’re going to be able to get her, though.
So if it’s someone like Shelly Landry or Jessica Leger, I’d be disappointed and feel like we didn’t even bother with a real coaching search. Kind of like the Des hire to replace Napier.
I am legit afraid that’s what we’re about to do.

Not to mention with Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12. TT could have a good shot of winning that conference next year. Likely will see the players at UL from Texas hit the portal and follow their coach.
OK State is still there (WCWS this season), and the Cowgirls have been killing it in recruiting.

Didn’t realize Louisville had that good of a softball coach

The McNeese coach would be a good hire. I personally would like to see Alyson Habetz take the job.
BOOM!

That hire was a no brainer, the job was Habetz's to refuse. The foundation is already built for Alyson to get the Lady Cajuns to Omaha regularly. They've been to OKC 6x's, the most recent 10 yrs ago in 2014. The UL softball program has lots of die-hard (older women) who follow the program and support it 100%. As a mid-major, money will always be the issue to compete with P5 schools. I truly believe these loyal, older supporters will donate $$$ to help fund NIL deals. Most of the girls in the portal are from Texas. NIL money will decide if they are gonna go back home with Glasco to TT, or play for Habetz and finish what they started.
FYI - the UL softball program was the first NCAA school to broadcast LIVE via radio every softball game, both @ home and on the road. This started 30 years ago and was funded by the older ladies who supported women's softball. Didn't matter if UL was playing in the Judi Garman Classic, travelling to CA, Oregon, Arizona, Florida, etc... Every single game (60 to 70 per year) could be heard on the radio.

When I was little I used to watch Alyson play American Legion baseball with the boys. She pitched and did splits playing first base. Held her own for sure.
She was on the Colorado Silver Bullets too. The all female minor league baseball team.
I'll be cheering for her.
