So Aldo is ducking this fight and 3 million dollars because he's scared or because he wants to there to be a chance he fights he fights for his belt for less money?

I think he ducked this fight because he knew he would get popped for PEDs and get no money. He pulled the same shite with Mendes, he somehow got injured the day after the UFC announced random testing and they had to push the fight way back. He is still retarded though, he should have done no PEDs, showed up and collected his arse whooping and his 3+ mil and showed up and gotten his arse kicked again for another 3+ mil and retired a very wealthy young man in Brazil.

I very seriously doubt Aldo gives even the tiniest of fricks about the money.

Did NSAC ever make a ruling? I know the requested scans but didn't hear anything after that.

I honestly believe the gym where he trains simply uses antiquated training practices. Those practices clearly work but this is the 5th title defense he pulled out of due to injury. When you're the best in the world there is no reason to change what is not broken. Unfortunately that results in hard sparing late into the camp.

Who do you know that is at the pinnacle of their profession, in any profession, that doesn't care about money at all. Also, Aldo bitches about fighter pay as much as anyone in the UFC and far more than any champion ever.

I think he pulled out before they could or else they didn't release their findings.

Well that and all Brazilians are juice heads.

I don't know what's stopping them from using the small cage. They have had 2 straight extremely entertaining cards with the smaller cage.

Aldo released a statement and copies of his scans.

quote:

For three months, I trained three times a day. I invested my time and money, bringing training partners from Brazil and other countries, to do the best training camp of my life so I would be ready to defend by belt for the eighth time on July 11. Unfortunately, I fractured my rib during a training session, which I can prove from an official medical report, and besides trying my best to fight, I was forced the other way and that made me really sad. Only I, my family, coaches and teammates know how hard I worked to represent Brazil again.

My decision was made in respect to the UFC and the fans that today see me as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. I couldn’t fight without being 100 percent physically and with a rib injury that could get worse if I got hit in the ribs. Many people told me to fight anyway because of the money I could make, but I wouldn’t sell myself for any money, no matter how much. I fight for love and I do it for my country. Money comes in second place, it’s like a shadow: when you try catching it, you can’t, but when you move forward, it follows you. Money ends some day, but legacy and things you do becomes part of the history, and that’s what I value the most.

I’m the UFC champion since April 2011, defended my belt seven times in four years, and will do it for the eighth time in 2015, an average of twice a year. And I’m not even mentioning WEC, a Zuffa-owned company, like the UFC, where I became the champion in 2009 and put my belt on the line twice in less than a year. That why I can’t agree with UFC’s decision to have an interim champion in my division citing the five opportunities that I couldn’t defend my belt.

If those fights had occurred, I would have done 12 title fights in four years in the UFC, an average of three fights a year, something that no other UFC champion did. A UFC champion rarely does three title defenses in one year. So that can’t be the main reason why they are creating an interim title, but the UFC is a private company which I work for, so I can’t complain about its decision, but I can’t say I agree either.

As of my opponent, who told me to step up and fight like a man, I can’t say anything about a man that imitates a TV series character (Travis Fimmel, from Vikings). That’s really who he wanted to be, because he’s probably ashamed of being who he really is, so he imitates his lines, his style and this actor’s tattoos. He’s an artist, but not from martial arts, but cheap comedy. It’s disrespectful with the actor, and with real athletes. He should look for a stage and not an Octagon. The Octagon is my kingdom and there’s place for only one king, which is me. If he wants to participate, he can be the joker he already is.

If he beats Chad Mendes, the only thing he will have is a toy belt to show his drunk friends in his country’s bars, because that’s what an interim belt represents to me: a toy. I am the champion.

I didn't read the article on it, but I'm wondering if this may be an issue of sample size. It does make sense that it would keep guys from circling a fight away, but at the same time, some of the most boring fights are lay and pray contests and they could do that in bathroom stall. Having a bigger cage could give guys more of a chance to sprawl and avoid takedowns.

He makes a very, very good point here.

This couldn't be more accurate. UFC did the interim belt so that they can cash in on McGoober before the luster wears off. The guy is top competition away from becoming the first Diaz with a funny accent.

Imagine if this interim fight ends up being a classic. What you will have after is the winner fighting Aldo, and if the winner beats Aldo, then there will be a rematch of this interim fight.

And Edgar sits and waits because the UFC loves McDicker that much.

How has Edgar as a former champ, fought in many great fights, not in this fight is crazy. Well, I think the UFC knows Edgar would smash the McDick.

Frankie is finally being punished for being a little pitter patter point fighter who gets gift decisions by yelling hiyaaah and getting meaningless takedowns with three seconds left in a round.

So if Mendes wins, which he most likely will, I think we will see both Conor and Jose move up to 155. No way Conor stays at 145 long enough for the belt to unify. That would mean waiting for Aldo vs Mendes III to take place, and probably a Edgar vs Aldo/Mendes. I don't Aldo has any desire for a third fight with Mendes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Aldo the loser of the RDS v Cerrone fight and let McGregor challenge for the 155 title.

Man I kinda don't even care what happens after July 11. Every damn fight I've gotten excited about the past 2 years has gotten scrapped at some point.

Pretty much over it. I've won a good % of the fights I've bet on in that time partly due to watching every single fight and keeping notes on performances and reading everything I can leading up to a card. Just not interested enough to keep that time investment when all the interesting fights have some sort of bullshite that keeps fricking w/ the cards.

Every damn card that is worth altering my life for and spending the cash to attend has been changed a couple weeks out. That makes it really tough to be a joe blow fan and plan a treat to hit Vegas for a card.

I'm not getting caught up in the hype anymore.

BJ Penn, grey manyard and Cub Swanson disagree

That scan shows he is an even bigger pussy. A broken rib that low is not nearly as bad as a broken rib higher up. He fricked up and now he might have to spend the rest of his life living in a favela instead of a mansion because he was too pussy to show up.

Sure it could. He didn't copy some dude named Travis Fulton, he copied Josh Mario John:

Not to mention Conor IS the King which is why Aldo is scared to fight him.

Oh ya and how is this a good point:

With the new drug testing you can now throw all of your notes out of the window because they are worthless. I mean look at that card a few months ago when like 9 underdogs in a row won right after they announced the random testing. Now that they have the super enhanced policy there are going to be huge changes across all divisions and it is going to be a ton of fun!
