Khabib is a horrible matchup for Pettis tho.

No shite, Pettis didn't look great because Melendez was smothering him for most of the fight. But when Pettis sees an opening that kid is fast. Gilbert liked a little embarrassed he got caught by a guillotine but it happens to the best of them.
So who is up next for Pettis?

Rory is going to beat the piss out of Robbie Lawler. Will look just like the Ellenberger and Woodley fight
Lawler is going to eat jabs all night
Lawler is going to eat jabs all night

He is so sick! Like I said before the fight its crazy he is only a purple belt in BJJ, and he wasn't even at that level until AFTER he subbed out Benson who is a high level black belt. His offensive BJJ and striking are on a different level, its just so sick. I have watched every single fight he has been in, that is on video, and I actually agree with Dana that he is the P4P best. I just could never see him losing anything other than a fight where someone lays on him the entire time like Guida did, but I think he is above that now. Ya he is a pretty boy and was out due to injury, AND the ultimate fighter which people forget about, but if you look at what he has done the last 5 years and his age its unreal. The dude is the future of MMA and all of the kids coming up are gonna be like him, its sad there wasn't even one comment on here about his fight but there were 2 pages about Rigg and Lawler who are chumps compared to him. #SMH

I'm excited for the new breed of MMA fighter that grew up with it already being an established sport.
One of the things I hated about UFC 10 years ago is now one of the things I love about it. There is a level of uniformity to it now. I have some pankration experience and trained some BJJ in '99 for fun when a gym opened up in NWA. It was all gi and very karate/martial art regimented. I liked the pankration training better of just hammering it of in the gym and fighting every night.
I thought the UFC was stifling the sport by limiting the different styles and putting more fights on the ground in what seemed like really unnatural fighting positions.
These new guys that grow up learning everything and having really well rounded fight games are exciting. I was a little disappointed in Hendricks. He didn't really change his gameplan from the first fight and stalled more than pushed action. I think he's going to have trouble beating some of these other Top 10 guys to get another title shot.
He'll probably be one of the guys that CM Punk fights in a year or so.

Gi and no gi bjj are a little different though. I mean Matt Hughes (no belt) put Ricardo Almeida (4th degree black belt) to sleep a few years ago.

I would favor Pettis over anyone not named Jose Aldo.

I don't know man, Khabib is a beast. And I'd probably favor Pettis over Aldo.
Anyone gonna watch the chick fights tonight? Rose is a beast.

Do yourselves a favor. Go listen to the Punch Drunk Sports podcast from yesterday. It's their latest one, about an hour and thirty five minutes in they take a call from the Diaz Brothers. (not really them, they've got a comic friend who does a good Nick Diaz impression and he'll "call in" to the show)
It had me laughing at my desk struggling to keep my drink in my mouth.
It's a pretty good running bit they have. GSP calls in often too.

Listened to Brendan Schaub's podcast today from Sunday. It's getting a lot of attention because Rogan encouraged him to walk away from fighting and broke it down to him why he's not getting to the elite level and why he likely never would and that Schaub is risking severe brain damage if he continues getting KO'd in the octagon.
Here's the podcast from Sunday, there's a soundcloud link in the article LINK
and an article with Schaub's comments a couple days later this week. LINK

Jesus Christ! Nate Diaz sounds like he's got a bowl of oatmeal for a brain in that interview.
He's already got brain encephalothopy.

Both of them have always been like that, it's like they don't even pay attention to the questions.

I kinda want to bet like $10,000 on RDA at -240....Diaz seems like he is spun out on meth. There is no way he wins IMO. I honestly would be surprised if he lasts a round.
