November makes a year since the Stipe fight. Jon would likely have to commit to the fight probably by Labor Day to allow enough time to camp and promote what would be one of the bigger fights in years. At that point, if it hasn't been announced, you might as well call it and strip Jon. There can be no further excuse.

That Stipe fight was extremely unserious and he doesn’t have to cut any weight at HW. What he’s doing is fricking pathetic. And I hate the “he earned it” shite. Either fight or don’t, you’re probably the best of all time and no one can take that away from you, but you can’t just sit on the sidelines and call yourself the champ

It's hard to say what's going on for sure. Tom and Jon have both sent mixed public messages ranging from clowning the other about the fight never happening to teasing that things are in the works. Dana has been largely silent (except for a confident statement a long while back about the fighting happening this summer), but obviously he feels there's a shot at it happening or else he would've called it amid mounting public pressure. Then again, he could just be sitting on Jon's retirement so as not to sink a new tv deal. Guess we'll all just have to wait on a definitive announcement in the coming months.

I think it'll be closer than the first one. Sean said that after he went back and watched the first fight, he actually thought he won that fight. I guess his claim is that he felt like he did more damage, even though Merab had more control time.

Sean landed a teep kick late that really hurt Merab. Would expect to see more of those in the rematch.

Merab also injured his toe apparently. Although it sounds like he doesn't think it will affect him.

To go 10 rounds without getting hit hard by a sharpshooter like Sean--it'll be impressive if Merab can avoid getting hit with a bomb from Sean for that long.

Whether you like it or not, Jones is still the champ & da goat

He may be the goat, but he's not the champ anywhere but on a piece of paper sitting in a TKO office right now.

the ufc has been really generous to Jones. he owes the sport the same opportunity he got to take on a legend early in his career. aspinall has done everything right and deserves the shot. If Jon doesnt want to fight he needs to step aside and let aspinall build his legacy. What he is doing now is petty. He got his legends fight with Stipe, no wit is time to fight the interim.

which will rid us of the wannabe Superstar "Suga Shawn".

Long been time for this dude to be gone. He’s in the same camp as Nickal. Both propped up and not worth a shite.

It’s like they are testing to see if Nee Orleans is viable, but then they give it a card like this lol

Excited for this one. My nephews are just now turning 21 and I’ve gotten them into the sport. They love Suga but know what’s coming.

out of the announed fighters on sherdog, only 3 fighters on this card have a win streak of 2 wins or greater. thats out of 24 fighters.... and one of them is michael johnson.

My theory is they know it’s not, but bc of Dustin they can charge high prices for the PPV & still make more money off of it than a regular fight night

Merab destroys OMalley again right?

I think Merab would win majority of the time, but I got money on O’Malley. The lines of Merab -330 is too wide. That and Merab is not a finisher(1 finish in 14 fights). And Suga looks focus on this fight, quitting social media, not coloring his hair. The UFC doesn’t like merab. If the fight is close, they might give it to O’Malley.

I think so too

I think Merab knows this and probably has brought in better grapplers to prepare for this

What evidence do you have that the UFC doesn't like Merab? I'm not denying the claim, I just have never seen anything that would confirm that or make it a bigger deal.

The worst thing that could happen is the UFC giving O'Malley a decision if striking is even and Merab has +10 takedowns. And it wouldn't help O'Malley fight the "overrated" tag.

Watching O'Malley and the attention he's given reminds me so much of Mcgregor. Exciting fighter who really isn't that great and gets mediocre competition so that they can "build his legacy" and get extra marketing $$. Only for him to get his arse kicked when he fights the first person with a pulse.

I hope you arent saying that conor fought mediocre competition.

I will say that omalley has had some favorable matchups... but you cant say that about conor. he dismantled some of the best fighters to ever do it.

Lets be real. Connor fought in an underwhelming lightweight division in which the top (3) fighters ducked each other their entire prime. He beat Eddie Alvarez and Jose Aldo towards the end of their prime. He was a mediocre 2-3 combined vs Nate Diaz and Dustin Porier who wouldn't sniff the top 3 today and barely the top 5.

One of the most exciting fighters that was also great for marketing and bringing in money? Yeah.

Did he really leave some crazy legacy where he proved to be a GOAT or dominated his competition? Not even fricking close.

Aldo won 15+ straight fights before McGregor and then went 7-9 after McGregor.

Alvarez was 6-1 before the Mcgregor fight and 2-3 after not including 2 no contests.

Mcgregor was a product of UFC marketing, perfect timing, and the right matchups.

He was legit mediocre against anyone he fought during their prime and got his arse kicked by the only person he actually fought that people believed was on his level.
