quote:Strickland connected on more significant strikes in rounds 1, 2, and 5, and tied DDP in round 3 and 4. You shouldn't get rewarded for throwing and missing.
Think DDP got the edge for being the aggressor in rounds 1-4.

Exactly. Just because you’re throwing haymakers don’t mean anything if the guy is ducking and parrying.

Dricus cutting Sean's eye was probably a big psychological factor for the judges, who are apparently easily swayed by takedowns that equate to nothing and haymakers in the air.

That was a very close fight. 1 and 5 Strickland, 3 and 4 DDP. 2 was a toss up in my book. Have to give the nod to the champion since it was so close

I also think takedowns when your opponent gets right back up Carries too much weight

Dana and Disney and bud light wanted Strickland taken down. They got their wish.

Nope. Du Plessis had like 30 seconds total of ground control.

yea anyone with a brain knows that was a close fight, but it was blatantly obvious that Strickland won the fight.
there simply is no doubt about it. that is a fact.

Sean even half took down Dricus in the 4th.

No way they give Sean a rematch. He was the nightmare scenario for ufc

It isn't a conspiracy, DDP is just a hell of a fighter, look what he did to Whittaker

Man, y'all are too much. We need to move this thread to the PT Board.

How does the Whittaker fight have anything to do with what everyone just saw?
Sean should have retained the title. That fight was a draw at worst.

Uh no it wasn't, there's no conspiracy here, stop trying to discredit a great performance by DDP, I like both fighters but DDP won more rounds.

It wasn’t enough to pass the belt imo.
A close fight should go to the champ.
Du Plessis swung like a wild man and landed like 15% of his strikes. He took down Sean many times only to stand right back up after hitting the ground.

Naa, it’s pretty Fing obvious it was rigged. A tied fight goes back to the winner, this was clearly a close/tied fight. DDP did nothing to take a belt away.

It was a close good fight, but we’ve seen this play out over and over to be the champ you need to BEAT the champ and as close as it was you didn’t really beat the champ if there’s a real debate about who won
