don't know if you remember, or care, but I wanted to apologize for the last fight thread. I was an unwarranted jackass and felt the need to acknowledge that.

Dont care… no problem we all have out jackass moments tee.

Btw tony ferguson and lee jinglang announced for ufc279 at 170. Not sure how i like that matchup on short notice after that knockout for tony. Jinglang looked pretty impressive last fight. Im guessing the backup plan is to feed tony to chimaev if nate pulls some BS.

Yeah, I think it’s his nickname from his wrestling days, but I think that Askren was actually who brought it back up

Askren was the one that let it out. Usman told the story at some point that his wrestling coaches started calling him marty because they didnt want to call him kamaru.

This dude quit. Everyone saw it. For 3 and a half rounds he quit

I hate to go there, but this is such a ‘casual’ comment

He had multiple opportunities to let usman take his back and choke him out on the ground. That’s exactly what happens when these fighters give up

Sorry edwards didn’t have the look on his face that you wanted him to, some people are just different I guess

Edwards had the look of someone who "knew" that what they worked on in camp wasn't working and wasn't gonna work. Usman was getting takedowns at will and stopping them easily after that first round. That was a look of frustration and disappointment.

But, he was never hurt. Usman never threatened to hurt him. Edwards didn't quit at all. He just didn't have any answers for Usman until the hail mary kick.

I predict usman will do like GSP did after KO loss, win his title back becoming a wrestle hump champ again, scared to stand.

He was doing that in rounds 2-4. He is miserable to watch. Don't get me wrong, I know he's good. He's just not an entertaining fighter for me.

He looked alot like the usman pre- trevor whitman last night. Just riding and not trying to do much damage. He had a pretty serious hand injury perhaps he rushed back.

It’s odd bc he can have some great fights when he’s against other guys who can wrestle. It’s just when he has a clear advantage he takes the path of least resistance which I can’t blame him for.

I think the rematch will be awesome bc Edward’s was way better at grappling and now should have the confidence to throw more on the feet.

You brought up how poorly it went for Izzy. I don’t know how Usman would do, but he’s naturally bigger and stronger than some other guys who have had success at 205.

And I’m saying if Izzy goes from 185 to 205 & gets embarrassed, then Usman sure as shite would too. And why would he just skip over 185? If he wants a challenge, move up and fight Izzy. I’d give him more a chance there than 205.

1. Jiri
2. Glover
3. Jan
4. Ankalev
Which one he’s gonna have a size and strength advantage against? All 4 of those guys are monsters
And I don’t wanna hear “I didn’t say those guys”. That’s the guys that matter

there's no way to know. If both fighters are at similar levels as last night, Usman will likely win 5 rounds and take Edwards to the ground at will. He won't put himself in a position to get hit like that again.

But...

1. Usman might never be the same after that. He's getting older and that was a big hit that some guys never recover from.

2. This could be the confidence boost that turns Edwards into a monster and he could become much better than he was last night.

3. And does it really matter when Chimaev is just gonna take it from whoever wins anyways? Lol

I still can’t believe they’re putting Chimaev/Diaz as the main event of a PPV
