I'm going both ways on this fight. I want to believe Conor will win but I'm just not sure how much he has been training in the time off with all of that money. Throw in khabibs wrestling and cardio... But if khabib gets stupid and tries to stand up with him it could be game over quick

I'm in the same boat wanting Conor to win. I wouldn't worry about ring rust. Conor has a lot of fights under his belt and trains well. Plus he was in the biggest prize fight ever last year. Not mma but still fighting.

Khabib is not going to try and stand. He is going to come right at Conor from the start and not let up. He will throw punches but while moving forward and putting on pressure attempting takedowns whenever he can and trying to back Conor up to the fence. He has shown the ability to consistantly walk though punches.

Conor was talking shite about a glass jaw in the press conference, but Khabibs chin is very fricking solid. Pound for pound no one hits harder than Conor but Khabibs chin is great and even Conors left wont knock him out, it will take a combination to put him down.

Khabib is really just an animal. I've watched a LOT of mma over the last 20+ years and I just havent ever seen anyone quite like Khabib. I'm telling myself Khabibs level of competition is questionable compared to Conors and no one at any level hits with the combo of speed, precision and power Conor does, but if Khabib gets a hold of him and takes him down early in a round. Conor isnt getting up until the bell.

If you google Dagestan wrestling you will see a plethora of articles.

So Russia and Iran are two of the greatest wrestling countries. Dagestan is the goldmine of Russia and is in the northern Caucasus. It’s closer to Iran than St. Petersburg

A fight I would love to see is Gray Maynard in his prime against Khabib

No sir. Ben askren vs khabib would be the equivalent of two bears mauling each other. That’s the fight to make but it won’t happen because Dana White holds grudges.

He’s been wobbled by the likes of Michael Johnson and al iaquinta. The point is that those guys have touched him. Usually if Conor can touch guys it’s a much different outcome. When Conor hits him it will be different than he’s been hit before. We will see if he can walk though it. I have no reason to believe he can. These aren’t boxing gloves.

Ben Askren. Absolutely every bit as good and the only guy that I think could beat khabib at his own game. Askren and khabib are on another level in regards to their styles. We will probably never see them fight each other.

Today should be a good day to discuss Jon Jones the Rat. Did he rat on Cowboy or someone else to get his ban reduced?

At what point does Khabib normally have his "training injuries" that hes used to pull out of 50% of his recent fights? Figures we should be close

Side note, Pettis is at +270, might be worth putting 50 on

Yeah,I stay away from betting on mma for the most part. I think Pettis will have his hands full this Weekend, I wouldn’t expect him to take this, but I’ve been wrong many times before.

They have to think the fight sells itself. It’s the biggest mma fight of all time, but has a pretty meh feel to it 4 days out.

I don’t remember Al ever wobbling khabib.

Anyone trying to give Connor an advantage based on anything other than their own hope is clearly reaching. I personally am cheering for Connor because frick Russia, but I’ll be the first to admit this is a horrible matchup for him. He can’t sleep khabib. He’ll have to pick him apart for 5 rds and connors cardio isn’t his strength.

The only clear cut thing I can say Connor has is his experience with rising up to the moment in big fights. No one can say he doesn’t perform his best under the brightest lights. That being said the ways for him to win are few imo

yeah they are saying they will strip dc and give the belt to jones gustaffson winner.

I think that is kinda messed up, although I guess they are thinking that they can do a jones dc fight at heavyweight if jones wins and it be a big fight because both have belts.

Agree except will add two things.

1. Conor can TKO or get a stoppage without having to go 5 rounds picking him apart. In fact I dont think Conor can win that way as it is too long to avoid Khabibs takedowns. IMO he is going to have to put together a combo of punches and/or kicks in the first 3 rounds to get a stoppage. And he can do that. In the Alvrez fight and to a lesser extent Mendes, he put together 2/3 punch combos that were devastating. Khabibs chin is too good for a stoppage without a really heavy combo or several really strong combos landing clean.

2. The only other advantage Conor has is he may be better at range than anyone. And by range I mean judging it, controlling it, jumping in and out of it deceptively and quickly, etc. Conor is an amazingly athletic, fluid, and perceptive fighter. He really is amazing on his feet with his movement. Of course Khabib knows this and will press forward and try to stay right on top of Conor the entire fight. I am expecting a very aggressive Khabib and Conor has to find a way not to be going backwards a lot.

Conor wants to promote his own brand and not the UFC

so he does as minimal requirements possible.

Well DC is being a hypocrite. "I don't wanna fight Jones again because he's a cheater but I wanna fight Brock even though he's also a cheater."
And DC won't fight Gus because the latter wouldn't fight his boy Rockhold.

Well consider his training intensity which is like many dagesrani wrestlers, his injury rate is common

DC said he’d fight Jones again after Brock but was very honest about the Brock fight being his nest egg for retirement
