I saw that tweet about Frankie and of course I’d watch but I don’t think Ortega would do it. Absolutely nothing to gain but a paycheck

Here's a video of Max doing an interview he's clearly not right and hadn't even started his weight cut yet.

He could have a belt though - and then face Max later, or if Max is done, he would become the undisputed champ. Even the interim champ gets paid like a champ, which is much higher. If someone is ready to go and Ortega refuses to fight, especially after he got most of his fame by coming in as a last minute replacement, he's going to look like a pussy.

You should never pass up a title fight you never know when you'll have another one

I saw some comments from Max from the past week and caught myself thinking, 'damn he seems dumb as a box of rocks', then I saw the interview you linked, live. Again I thought, something is not right here, and then Bisping called him on it.

I'll be interested to see if they follow up with Bisping to see if he has anything to add on what tipped him off.

I just don’t see how they can make it an interim title when max isn’t going to be out long and fought last nov. it’s not like he tore his acl

Ortega is gonna frick himself if he turns down the fight against Frankie. UFC will do an interim and then he will be left to wait. If they offer him an interim to stay on the card he better take it.

Why does every picture of max holloway on mmaweekly portray him as a drug addict or child molester?

I disagree 100%. No way they can do an interim title without Ortega in it. They’re better off re booking this to another event that needs a better headliner. Making up some bs interim fight and plugging it in won’t get a single more ppv buy than the card already will as is, and in doing so you’re screwing over one of your best young superstars

Maybe to preserve the 'title' fight on this card? Perhaps they think he's going to be out for a while.

I just don’t think a “title fight” with two guys not slated to fight for a title does anything financially to account for the mess it creates moving forward. I could be wrong but I don’t think any 45ers not named Holloway or Ortega move the needle for sat night

It appears they went to Ortega and he may have said he wasn't fighting unless it was against Max. So maybe the UFC had no option. The story is incomplete right now, but that's what it looks like to me.

I think Ortega is an idiot if he turns this down.

Ortega has so much to lose fighting someone like frankie on 3 days notice. If he would lose that would be multiple months getting another title shot and that's assuming he would have no hiccups on the way back up.

He has less to lose than if he turns it down and they make Edgar Stephens a interim.

I think if they offer Frankie for an interim title with championship pay he’d probably take it. However I’m not sold the ufc wants to risk losing the Ortega/Holloway fight that might be a card saver somewhere in a month or two

There’s zero chance of this happening bc no way Stephens can make championship weight in 1.5 days

He could care less if frankie or Stephens gets the interim belt. Risking a L when you're at the top is stupid. There is no reason to fight on 3 days notice with a new opponent. He can wait a month or two to fight Holloway. It sucks for the fans but Ortega and his team are making the right decision.

Don't know much about Rachel Ostovich, but she's fighting on the TUF card, Friday.

Looks pretty good.
