UConn on Monday will announce an agreement with CBS Sports Network, which will carry four homes games in the upcoming 2020 season — if there is one — and every home game through 2023. The four-year deal comes with a pair of two-year network options that could push the agreement to eight years, through the 2027 season.

Financial specifics weren’t available but the CBS deal, which is over seven figures for the four years, will benefit UConn in ways similar to the average of deals in place for teams in conferences such as Conference USA, the MAAC and Mountain West. Every FBS game UConn plays in the life of the deal will be on linear TV. There is a possibility that the one annual FCS game will be available on a digital-only platform.

UConn expects to know the start time for every game in advance of a season, and most will be in the noon-3:30 window on Saturdays, with the likelihood for one Friday night game a year. The UConn/CBS Sports Network deal was done through Learfield IMG College, which holds UConn’s multimedia rights.

“All I can tell you is we're getting paid,” Benedict said. “We are being compensated and they're obviously covering the costs of production.”

Production costs would have fallen on UConn under the AAC-ESPN+ media contract.

Why does cbs sports think anyone wants to watch UCONN football?

They've been airing AAC games so they probably have the data that tells them how valuable their football games are?

Adding to the OP that the full numbers aren't released but it's supposedly in the 7 figure range and they won't have to cover production costs like schools in the AAC do with the hybrid ESPN/ESPN+ deal so they might actually be getting a better deal than other AAC schools.

Yes. 2019 was their final year in the AAC. They are actually doing a fairly good job of setting up their schedule considering the short notice of replacing so many conference games.

Says seven figures over the 4 year deal, would be surprised if it’s over 1m a year.

If I was making UConn's schedule, I would want it to feel as much like the old Big East as possible. Notre Dame, Rutgers, Penn St, West Virginia, Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Maryland, etc. At the same time, I'd come hell or highwater do whatever is necessary to maintain the greatest rivalry in college football internet message boards: The Civil Conflict.

It would be pretty damn awesome if UConn was playing live right now.

So kind of like the Longhorn Network, except it’s not 24 hours of UCONN?

Those damned conference destroyers!

Damn, they are independent.

Looking at their upcoming scheduling, there's a lot of Army, Buffalo, UMass and Liberty.

The MAC should try and make a splash and be the first conference to 16 teams and bring in Army, UMass and Liberty, then UConn just for football. I think those schools from a football perspective, would fit in perfectly with the MAC.

MAC EAST:

Ohio
Kent St
Akron
Buffalo
UConn
UMass
Army
Liberty

MAC WEST:

Miami OH
Bowling Green
Toledo
Eastern Mich
Western Mich
Central Mich
Ball St
Northern Illinois

Uconn would rather remain independent in football

I can understand that, but looking at their schedule, there is a lot of Army, Liberty, UMass and Buffalo on there. Why not just join a conference together. If the others joined the MAC, who the heck would UConn be able to play? But its all just for conversation, doesn't seem like it would ever happen.

They’d just rather pick their own schedule, and not have to be associated with a bunch of midwestern schools during the season

That would be a long way from a program that once beat ND and played OU for the Fiesta Bowl
