Are the 2008 Utah Utes national champions in your mind as well? 2008 Florida is considered to be among the greatest teams of the last 20 years but failed to finish the season undefeated. Utah was the only undefeated team that year. Surely they are national champions in your mind, especially when you consider they beat Alabama by 14 points while Florida only beat us by 11.

Yeah they at least should have had a shot. I thought thats what the playoffs were for. Giving the smaller schools that go undefeated a shot. Its all about money anyways just like 90 percent of the world.

The playoffs were a direct response to the 2011 season. So that is NOT what the playoffs were for. The playoffs were about getting the best four teams in the country to play each other for the right to call themselves national champions. If LSU played the same schedule as UCF they'd be undefeated, too.
