UCF is to have their "National Championship" parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom.

What better place for the flakes of UCF to have their parade. The one place that declares everyone is special. Maybe Mickey Mouse will hand out participation trophies to all of the fans and declare them to be part of the national championship as well.

Honestly, all of this is an obvious business move by UCF's AD and now, Disney (although -- I feel like the city wouldn't allow them to have a parade for an illegitimate claim).

Ballsy arse move from UCF. Go undefeated, win a NY6 game and then declare yourself national champions, leading to more coverage and reminders of their program going undefeated and winning a NY6 bowl.

Does their AD really believe they're national champs? No. But it's a hell of a job of brand promotion and keeping UCF football in the news cycle.

Going to sell lots of T-shirts to their 60,000+ students and large alumni base.

And Disney will get a lot of visitors from UCF people that aren't already pass-holders.

Especially considering their Head Coach is a Derelict OC who coached at Missouri last year. Heupel is going to get super exposed!

Disagree.

Conferences have been agreeing to a specific standard of awarding national champions since 1992. Since that time there have only been two instances where a championship was split, and one of those times was because the Big Ten/Pac 10 refused to participate in that system due to their precious Rose Bowl.

If UCF was awarded a national title by a major selector, such as AP or Coaches, I will concede their argument. This isn't 1930. Just because Dunkel, Helms, or Houlgate declared you national champions, doesn't mean you get to hang a banner anymore.

Except usually an outside organization declares a school NC. I've never heard of a school declaring itself NC.

UCF would maybe score 14 points against a healthy Bama defense. And Bama would run the ball down their throats all game.

they're national champions of the Group of 5.

just like you have a team every year that is national champions of FCS, of HBCUs, etc. None of those teams get confused for the one that wins what used to be the crystal football, or whatever the new trophy is called.

in the end this will do more to hurt their perception than it will to help it. they're declaring themselves champions of a more small-time group rather than accepting their place in the big-time group.
