It's ridiculous that the state of Florida has 4 of the top10 schools (population) in the country

I live near UCF and hang with a few current students. They still aren't at the level of FSU / Miami / OSU / LSU, etc. They have a hard time filling a 45k stadium on a regular basic.

The reason behind this is not too many students live on campus (or near campus). A TON of students rarely step foot on the main campus and a good number don't live near UCF. 4 of the 5 students I know that attend UCF right now don't live near campus and 2 or the 5 never go to the main campus. Only one attends the football games.

So yes, they have a huge enrollment. But they don't have the same "feel" as BAMA, LSU, etc.

They are growing on campus housing though. I think 5k beds planned for the next few years.

UCF and USF are huge schools, but they largely draw "commuters" and out of towers who just want to go to college in Orlando or Florida. They move back home and couldn't really care about the institution itself.

Granted, that could change some day. USF was making big gains in all sports a while back (before they hired Holtz) but fizzled out. Now UCF has been developing a football program and Florida Gulf Coast is a relatively new college 2+ hours south of Tampa that recently experienced a lot of growth. I think they're up to 20k now.

A pet peeve of mine is that USF is not actually in what is known as South Florida. They should rename the thing to UFTB or University of Tampa Bay, or some shite like that.

I say Michael Crow at ASU is pretty smart. Let everyone in, and kick out 40%~ of the kids after 1-2 years but keep their money. The rest of the 60% reap the benefits. (We still get charged up the butt though)

UCF isn't easier to get into than any other state school. People from the northeast can come down here to go to school in Central Florida for the same price they would pay in state for some universities up there. You would not believe the amount of OOS students I know that go there.

UCF has a bunch of undeveloped land and has plans to build on it. Their on campus infastructure could literally triple. It is the fastest growing university in America. They could become very inticing for conference expansion in the near future. They have nice facilities that also have the ability to be expanded and be improved.

Have you ever looked at the requirements to get into UF?

Don't go full retard. Acceptance requirements are far different than acceptance statistics for ACCEPTED freshmen. UF is the highest by a gnat hair over FSU - then the rest of the state.

UCF is growing rapidly out of their commuter school status and is developing a legit medical program.

I think UCF may be 1st by next year. Steadily closing the gap. 4 of top ten in the state of Florida.

One of our tOSU fans referred to Da U as a commuter school yesterday.

Just dropping that note here.

It was me. I also stated several times that i was referring to Miami in the way that they support their athletic teams in comparison to UCF, not the school specifically. I just worded it wrong.

This is the only way the SEC offices will change the cross division rivalries.

UF’s average freshman profile reads like this: 4.3 GPA, 1958 SAT score, 30 ACT score.

According to princetonreview.com, the national average for the SAT is 1500 and 21 for ACT.
By comparison, the average GPA for freshmen entering UCF last fall was 3.8. It was 3.9 at FSU, 3.8 at USF and 3.7 at Florida International University.
Minimum requirements are low, but it's harder to get accepted to UF than UCF.
