I cant believe people are complaining about trading and 8/8 player.
i'm mad that we lost the salary
when you're over the cap, you need salary to make deals, and it's hard to get salary other than the MLE

again, THIS YEAR i have no problem with the trade. literally at all
but NEXT year...ouch
And if Wilcox plays like he did in Seattle and the Hornets can resign him for half the cost of Cahndler?
Posted on 2/17/09 at 5:14 pm to ScoopAndScore
I strongly suspect we deal Peja in the offseason but we also eat a huge chunk of his contract. My guess is we pay somewhere around $6 million as the only way to deal him.

you have no idea what moves could be made or what the roster will look like.
if we renounce wilcox/smith, our abilities to do anything are limited. that's the problem
now this offseason we have $13M or so in expiring deals for next year (daniels/butler/armstrong). that is the next crucial step. for this team to move forward that MUST be used to acquire a top guy to put next to paul/west

why would the hornets re-sign a guy when they traded for him solely to dump salary?

Wilcox is a rebounding machine SFP. IMO, the possibility is there. Would you rather sign a guy for 5 years/$30 mil or pay Chandler $12 mil next season? Seems like a bargain, especially if he is productive...

Because if they sign Wilcox for 5 mil a year, they would still be saving 13 mil over the next 2 years.

have you watched this year?
Chandler has a lot to do with the suckage. He played with more energy last year, and all together was a better player overall. Rebounding, defending, scoring....
You don't know what you're talking about. His stupid rebounding and points were down 2 per game. Big deal.
He's still a huge presence in the paint and opposing 1's and 2's dont even think about penetrating and throwing up floaters when TC is in the game.
I'd guess that you're the one who doesn't even watch the Hornets, because if you did you'd realize that Tyson's attributes don't show up in the box score.

Wilcox already makes over 5mil I believe, and he certainly isn't taking a pay cut.

LOL - I didn't realize you watch a ton of Thunder games. My bad. This is a GREAT trade then!

for a 26 year old who is supposed to get better? yes, big deal.

anyone who is 6'10" - 7' will have this same impact. he was a tall body, but still didn't block shots like he should have. we have tall bodies, maybe not 7', but once youre over 6'10" its all the same

you are clueless. just cause you go to a few games doesnt make you stephen a smith.

He makes close to 7 this year. But that has nothing to do with the future since he signed that deal after averaging 14 and 8 with Seattle. Unless he explodes the second half of the season, he will have to take a pay cut.

Wilcox is also 26 and just as athletic dumbass.

Hilton is easily a better shot blocker than Chandler.

Go take a look at bigs on the FA market this year, Wilcox is in the top 3 at least which means his price will go up. He's 26, he won't take a pay cut.

try 3
he was 11/11 last year
and he AVG 12 rebounds the year before!!!! 12!!!!!!
That's huge considering all he is there for is to rebound and take up space. He isnt crashing the boards, and defense have absolutely locked down the alley oop: which was the ONLY way he scored besides a put back here and there.

is that why he only blocks about 1 shot per game?
his defense is so overrated. He is a decent help side defender, but that is pretty worthless since we dont have a dominant low post defender.

if you seriously watch this year and tell yourself he is the same player as last year, with the same intensity and tenacity, then I dont know what to tell you. His energy level is down. Which means his game is down. He cries too much like he is some superstar. 8/8 is replaceable with a shitty attitude..

Hilton gets pushed around by scrubs like Leon Powe, besides blocking a few shots he's worthless on D.
Posted on 2/17/09 at 5:29 pm to Lester Earl
who are we going to replace him with? Hilton has just shown he can be a capable backup at best, Wilcox and Smith will be gone.
Posted on 2/17/09 at 5:29 pm to NIH
Unless he explodes in the second half (which will be good for the Hornets) he will be a MLE player. No team will make Wilcox their big target and give him big bucks just because it is a down year for bigs. Especially with the big 2010 offseason coming up.

ask me next year. He's easily replaceable. We'll find someone. This roster wont look the same next year.
