The worst is golf announcers talking about putting.
If a putt breaks left. Announcers use say “breaks left about _inches”.
If a ground has a couple mounds on a longer putt, announcers would say “breaks left to right”. We all knew that mean ball would move left then later break back to the right towards the hole.
Recently watching golf, every single-break putt is: “breaks right to left”. Could be a 3ft putt always the same. “He’s about 3ft out this one breaks left to right”.
The only explanation is that it’s more fun for them to say, but it’s asinine.

In all seriousness, this is the real difference.
PATs are largely assumed while 2-pt conversions are less than a coin flip.
One is a chip shot kick, one is crossing the plane of the endzone.
If you’re down 8, you have to “score” twice, but it’s still a 1-possession game.

I’ve been a golfer my entire life, since 4yrs old. Have played golf in multiple counties. Please explain how that absolute fact about double-breaking is incorrect.

Yes, and in context of what the announcer is framing either could be pertinent.
8 points is the one time you are within one score of your opponent and will require multiple scores to win the game.
Traditionally I agree that it’s a “one score game” but likewise the trailing team will require multiple scores to win isn’t wild in the right phrasing

The 1 or 2 points is directly tired to the TD score. You can’t just go down the field and say “oh I want to score an extra point or I want to score an extra 2 points.” It’s a direct extension on the TD score and a way to get “extra points” that you can’t get on its own.
You score points in football via FG or TD and have an extra “kicker” that’s tied as a bonus worth 1 or 2 points. Neither of those are considered “scores.” They are extra bonus points. The only way you get either of those is by scoring a TD. It’s not an individual, stand-alone scoring play. Not sure why this is even a debate and this hard for people to understand.

It’s called an extra point, almost as if it’s free if you just execute. You have the option of trying to convert a 2 PT
