TTF, you don't read very well, do you?

I AM concerned enough about my daughter's education that it is indeed, to use your expression, "complete bullshite" that Tulane's tuition is so high for their academic standing.

You are the one who must not be able to read. I only quoted the portion where you said that Tulane's academics have been declining, which is factually incorrect. As a parent of a current student I would expect you to be more familiar with the university than merely glancing at a terrible Forbes ranking list.

Nice reasoning. If Tulane was still top fifty, you'd no doubt be praising the Forbes rankings. But no, they are "complete bullshite" ... the same expression Dickson no doubt uses when he's faced with what the criteria is for accepting a school into a legitimate conference.

You really have no clue what you're talking about, do you? Tulane has never been top 50 in the Forbes rankings, which no one even takes seriously and have only existed for a few years.

You're confusing Forbes with the US News rankings, in which Tulane is still underrated (Katrina impact due to 6 year grad rates) but is currently 51st.

Sorry Johnny. I just now saw this.

Now don't think you are going to join yogwf and talk a bunch of LSU smack. Hell, they ban Tulane fans right and left who dare speak out against the party line. That board is mainly just a shill for the athletic department and administration.

Gotula.net was started by a former Greenie football player who does indeed see the real problems with Tulane athletics and to his credit, wants a forum where discussion can be free without the censorship.

Unfortunately--for Tulane athletics--it's mostly the same five guys that post over and over.

They are far too little and far too late.

The amount of users on their message board is the least of their worries.

This is jut retarded. Too little and too late for what? As far as I know they haven't shut down the athletic program just yet. FYI it aint happening any time soon. Even though it seems like that's what you're rooting for.

I would suggest they go either the route of the University of Chicago and drop atheletics all together, or drop down to the level of WashU STL and drop to division III. Stop wasting money on a program that has been hanging out to dry for a very long time.

Oh. Here is a specific example of delusion.

I say again, I respect the guy that runs this particular message board. I just think he's fighting a losing battle.

But among the few Greenie fans that are left, they are actually talking about:

Should We Be Trying to Reposition in a BCS Conference?

No problem. Thanks for responding. I'm not going to talk smack. I grew up uptown in a Tulane family. My Mom worked there and my brother and sister both graduated from there. I could have gone there as well but it would have meant staying at my parents house.

He's delusional for asking if they should try to get into a BCS conference? That's not even close to the delusional threads I see on this board daily.
I didnt see one person on that board say that they were worthy of getting into a BCS conference FWIW.

I posted on that forum a few times till they banned me...I don't think the care too much for LSU guys or maybe it was just me.

Tulane is a fine school. Their leadership at times just hasn't appeared to be all that big on football...whatever they decide to do is their call and no skin off my nose.

No, they ban a good bit of Tulane fans as well. The rules on that forum are just stupid.

However, we do have New Orleans as a selling point as well. Don't think for a minute that the Big 12, Big East or ACC wouldn't welcome the addition of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region to their viewing area.

Whether New Orleans is an attractive market or not I'm pretty sure it's considered LSU territory, so to speak. After all isn't Texas A&M supposed to deliver the Houston market to the SEC? Doesn't UGA deliver Atlanta?

I haven't seen the Forbes ranking, but I've never really even known they ranked colleges. Tulane has dipped a bit in the US News ranking like you said, but it's still right around the top 50. Don't think it was ever in the top 40, so those kinds of adjustments are normal, especially when you factor in Katrina.

The one thing about Tulane is that they really give outstanding financial aid to LA kids. If you get a 1400+ and have a 3.5 gpa, they pretty much gave 20-25K per year for each student, so that makes it a much better deal than for out of state kids.

As for sports, it seems stuck in C-USA mediocrity. C-USA is pretty much a conference with no identity, so it is bound to keep losing attractive members and adding less and less impressive programs to keep up numbers.
