If Notre Dame loses, yes, I think so. I don't think Harbaugh will be fired during or after this year.

Harbaugh still has a massive amount of money he is owed. He hasn't lived up to the hype yet, but he hasn't pitfalled like Brady Hoke.

Harbs isn't getting fired

He has at least 3 years left of finishing 3rd in his division.

wasnt brian kelly like about to be fired last year before he pulled that season out of his arse? idk. it seems like if someone would be getting fired it would be him but i feel like last year at least got him this year unless this year is a disaster

feel like both are safe no matter what happens in that single game

I think both will realize they no longer have a place in the upper levels of CFB. Integration decimated both programs.

Scuttlebutt was that he was gone pending 7 - 5 or worse (which seemed eminently possible before the year). Then we looked like one of the best teams in the country through Halloween, and it cooled. 8 - 4 would have been a little dicey, but he would have probably kept his job.

The November collapse (again) didn't help his case, but he's fine if he wins 9 games again.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if we "mutually parted ways" or whatever at the end of this year. It seems as if this is the AD's last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if his replacement wants to bring in his own guy. Then Kelly will ride off into the sunset where some mid-tier P5 team will grab him and he will go 8 - 4 and 7 - 5 into eternity.

Notre Dame has won 3 titles since widespread integration and nearly won another 2 or 3. Michigan won its only title since the 40's in 1997 and had some of its best years in the 1990's and 2000's.

Shitty coaching hires decimated both programs, not integration. Anyone's program would suck arse if they hired Davie, Willingham, and Weis consecutively.

Was Harbs' seat hot in San Fran?

Kelly is a massive douche who hasn't been very consistent and has lost 4-8 games in 5 of his 8 seasons at ND.

His seat can catch fire at ANY moment.

Notre Dame is not losing to Michigan in South Bend. Not saying it will be a blowout, but I don’t think they’ll lose.

Is ND's rb going to play?

If not, i am very concerned with the irish offense. Wimbush's accuracy needs to take a big jump from last year.

Dexter Williams most likely not. We are very thin at RB, but the guys we do have seem like they're reasonably solid, if young.

Wimbush is the entire pivot around this season. The OL should be good again (if not great like last year), and we have some talent at WR. The defense should be stellar.

We could be anything from 6 - 6 to 12 - 0 and none of it would surprise me.

Didn't seem like it was that long ago that Brian Kelly was being talked about like he was a potential NFL coach.

Harbaugh is nowhere near the hot seat.

No way Harbaugh is fired this year without a scandal being the cause.

And what if Notre Dame wins every game but the Michigan one?

So False...

Both Notre Dame and Michigan as well as Tennessee and some other schools need to get realistic about their expectations. If you aren't in a recruiting hot bed, the only way to get great is to steal a ton of players from another school or 3. That's not a recipe for good long term success.

Indiana has very few in state great players, Michigan isn't much better nor is Tennessee. You just aren't going to get that many kids from California, Texas, and Ohio to those schools when USC, Texas schools, and tOSU are good. There's only so many players to go around.

Even into the late 90s, recruiting wasn't a national event like it is now. Those programs can be good, but it's going to be almost impossible to have any sort of longer term success. Harbaugh is a plenty good enough coach, and he can't do it.
