how many are doing it in a hotel room cut off from their family?

I read one report that said families could also be in the same hotel. the teams would use every room in the hotel and spread out.

also, they have people who would jump at the chance to be alone for 4 months after this quarantine bullshite.

So they would lock the players' families in there with them?

I understand this, but I don't think this is one of those times.

I think baseball players going to Arizona and sports starting up would be a big morale boost for the nation. Bread and circus.

Like someone said earlier in the thread, guy achieved generational wealth playing a game. Not like the MLB is sending him to the gulag.

crazy? every regular citizen in America is currently having to do this after to going to work, not playing baseball for millions.

what

i could walk outside right now, go to a park, and then come home. they would literally be confined to only the baseball field and their hotel room. nothing more. they would absolutely be under a harsher quarantine than the majority of the people in this country

Baseball needs to resume, if players don't want to participate bring up some guys from the minors and put those who don't want to play on the exempt/injury list.

just going from the field to the hotel room and not being able to do anything. I think that's pretty crazy

I am crying a river for a guy that is currently worth 60 million and going to earn another $400 million. Get some hookers and booze delivered to your room.

Kershaw said something similar yesterday, and this way of thinking is starting to piss me off. I get that it isn't ideal, but everyone is making sacrifices right now. they have kids who don't see their parents for much longer because they're in the military, but somehow they survive.

You're asking them to give up their freedom, to entertain you with sports. I'm not surprised they are balking.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think the desire not to be quarantined in a hotel room away from his pregnant wife...it's just a human reaction.

True, but that doesn't mean he can't prefer to be home with his wife instead of stuck in a hotel by himself.

He's a husband and a father, and I don't blame him for wanting to put that over the performer part. I actually respect him more as a man for saying he'd rather be there for his pregnant wife instead of playing a game.

Trout has 3 of the Top 10 WAR seasons in the last 100 years, though.

Subscribe.

These athletes need to realize they are replaceable. Lots of guys in the minors will play for small pay raises and everyone will still tune in if it’s actually televised.

parks are closed where I live, so not everyone is living your luxurious lifestyle I guess. point is, making millions to play a game may have its downsides. it's not the end of the world to be apart from people for 4 months.

I agree with this. I also don't mind him complaining about it. But I ultimately think they should pack-up and have an Arizona league this year. I'm sure with events like this, you can work something out. Players' wives that are able to make it to term, players can quarantine for two weeks leading to it. Guess we just need to see a fully spelled out league policy for life's events.

Idk, this is just unprecedented and I selfishly want to watch baseball.

Oh, I get it as well. But if every team throws their current players away and puts a season on for me I’ll never think twice about the guys who wouldn’t play and wouldn’t support them if they ever came back either.

It’s okay to be selfish. A lot of people would have you think otherwise, but they are full of shite.
