Poorly worded. Should've clarified during the Super Bowl era.

They merged with the Eagles and Cardinals at various points prior to that, and had multiple head coaches before Noll.

I've always thought he's a hell of a guy but an average coach

He walked into a great situation and had a playoff team and a HoF QB handed to him. He's never had to rebuild and has surrounded himself with great coordinators

All this. He has one of the best QB, RB, WR and defenses year after year and isn't getting it done.

wut

I guess their history starred when they won those super bowls.

The Steelers used to be one of the worst franchise in the NFL until the 70s.

Well, if by 3 TOTAL, you mean 3 since 1969, you'd be right. As the Steelers, they've had 11. As a franchise, 16. They were the Pirates for the first 5 years of their existence.

OK, then that should be 4 since the Superbowl era started in 1966 and Noll became coach in 1969. Bill Austin was the coach from 66-68.

Meh it was 10-0 at that point and the Steelers have the best backup RB in the league. The same issues that plagued them all season (bad red zone play, bad rothlesberger throws, mediocre defense, and bad play on the road) came back to haunt them

The fact that Haley has a job is mind boggling to me. He's terrible.

Tomlin hasn't had a good defense for at least 5 years. They're slowly building it back, but he's had to deal with replacing that entire defensive monster Leabeau had for a few years.

And Colbert/Tomlin have become fantastic at drafting WR's. The WR talent wouldn't even be there without Tomlin.

He really needs to get away from the zone scheme on defense. Elite QB's like Brady just pick it apart every single time.

It's 12th ranked this year. You could give the SB trophy to the Falcons right now if they had that ranking.

I like Tomlin, but he's continually coming up short in the post season.
