Watch the link I posted a couple of pages ago. In the slow motion view it is obvious that Dez is going from a catch then trying to get the td instead of just falling.

just said it wasn't obvious what his intent was like most of y'all are claiming
Is it 100% obvious that his intent wasn't to stretch?
Because if it isn't, that play shouldn't be overturned.

Have you ever fallen down and taken 3 steps in the middle of the fall? If so, what was the purpose of the 3 steps?
was it 3? looked like 2 to me
and his momentum is carrying him, he is taking those "steps" to try and gain control of his body, which he never does, he is falling to the ground the entire time

falling to the ground is a football move?
If you look again he took two full steps with possession and the ball came out when he hit the ground.

I hate the Cowboys. I couldn't overturn that catch.

Why did the ref on the field staring right at it call it a catch if this is all so "blatant and obvious?"

no

nobody has answered me if you have to retain possession through the football move?
I would think you would, no?

did the ref see the ball come loose?

You guys keep using these words like "obvious" and "clear" - it really wasn't.
I understand the argument for leaving it the way it is called on the field if there is any doubt, but to make Dez's intentions sound so cut and dry is disingenuous.

Agree, and this applies to the reversal as well.

quote:He leaps to catch the ball, takes 3 steps during the fall, keeps his knees off the ground(because he's trying to score), and extends the all forward before he is down. How they can 100% know that he didn't do this on purpose is lost on me. It's bullshite. Anybody arguing it is just wrong.
To me, it looks like he reaches out towards the goal line, in an attempt to score.
The ruling the refs made was their opinion. That's not how review works.

I really think the initial bobble is the key aspect of the play - without that you don't get the same vibe that he is stumbling/bobbling his way to the ground and should therefore retain possession throughout the catch.

There is nothing about it in the rule book.
Just states that if you make a football move, the catch is conpleted.

quote:We'll call it 2 then. So we have him falling while close to the goal line. You say he made a conscious effort to take steps in order to gain control of his body. I'm assuming that's so he can stay up and score.
and his momentum is carrying him, he is taking those "steps" to try and gain control of his body, which he never does, he is falling to the ground the entire time
Explain how that isn't a football move.

You can't laugh at the guy saying "anyone arguing it is jsut wrong" when you did the exact same thing on the other end.
