You do not have to maintain possession through the ground if you make a football move. If that was the case then it could be an incomplete pass after 7 spin moves, a stiff arm, and a 25 yard run

Do they have a list of football moves?
Is launching and reaching for the endzone a football move?
Also, I like the NFL's official use of the word "irrelevant"

If the ground can't cause a fumble then it shouldn't be able to cause an incompletion either. This is fricking stupid.
That's my problem with the CJ rule. They don't jive together. They said when they implemented the ground can't cause a fumble rule it was because the ground is not acting upon the player therefore it should not benefit the opponent but apparently the ground can actively strip wide receivers from making a catch. To me the only time the ground should be a factor in whether or not a catch is made is before the WR posses the ball. If you catch it in mid air then the ground did not help with the catch and should not be factored in.

It can be.
But he did not launch for the end zone. He fell towards it, which the officials concluded. Therefore, he must maintain possession.

No, he definitely lunges for the endzone bud. Otherwise he would tuck it away into his body, but it's pretty clear he's reaching for the goal line if you've ever watched football in your life.
The question, is a lunge considered a football move?

Sure, if the ball was kryptonite.
He fell, he did not dive.

I am not a fan of either team but to me the Cowboys got screwed. It looks clear to me that he made the catch, took 3 steps and dove for the end zone. In the process, his right elbow hit the ground before the ball did. How is this not a catch?

...well , are not all catches, fumbles , penalties , INTERFERENCE ( or not ) type plays governed by the rules of the game per NFL rule book . Whereas some interference calls can be "judgement calls " ( hint hint ) , the play in question was called CLEARLY in accordance with the rules : Incomplete pass. Is it a good rule in all cases ? Probably not , and should be modified. But it is what it is . (The no interference flag pick up Dallas v Detroit was , however , BOGUS ) Sorry Dallas. Karma perhaps ?
