Yes, but BECAUSE he reached the ball out and not because it crossed the goal line. If your scenario is a catch then, so is the one that actually happened because both involved a football move.

Crossing the goal line means nothing if you don't complete the catch without a football move. If Dez didn't catch it as is, it wasn't a catch had he crossed the line.

Is there a video or gif showing ball actually touching the ground? Not moving and probably caused by ground but actually touching the ground.
Nothing 100% shows it but the ball def touched the ground

It's a catch and if it's not according to NFL rules then the NFL rules are a joke. Well they are a joke anyway but this would just be another obvious example.
Not a catch.

Dallas was gifted last week. They shouldn't have even been there.

Roger you are 100% right. The only argument today is whether or not Dez stretched the ball out. If he did, then catch. If he didn't, then no catch. That is the only thing people should be discussing. The peopl talkig about falling and everything else are unclear of the rules

At least that was a judgment call. This was a case of the refs incorrectly invoking a rule in situation the rule book specifically excludes it from being used.

25 page thread on a ref decision that probably wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Rodgers was winning that game

Understood gray. But at this point I think most people in this thread should know that by now

Agreed as well Hail. GB was going to drive down easily. Hell they would have only needed a field goal. And they were in field goal range at the end without even trying to score

Maybe, but I'll take my chances with a one-legged Rodgers leading a game winning drive.

Roger they were in field goal range already and kneeled the ball to end the drive.

We have read the report. The refs don't beelive Dez made an act common to the game. I beleive he did

That's how that would be called if you removed the end zone

Crossing the plane with possession ends the play immediately making the kicking of the ball irrelevant

Then the Calvin Johnson play should have been a catch because he was in the endzone when he caught it then went to the ground and it popped out. By your definition the TD was before the ball came out. Per the rules either both should be a TD or neither. In my mind all 3 should have been completed catches but the NFL rule book doesn't allow for common sense.

So, can you fumble the ball after a forward pass? Wouldn't it just be considered an incomplete pass since all you did was not maintain possession to the ground/tackle?
